Family trip to Pigeon Forge led to a new car! My kids had a week off school for fall break. Headed to the Smokies, we had car trouble on the way. Not knowing the area at all, we had the Pilot towed to the nearest dealer which was Gates Honda. The service dept., Justin, assessed the situation with the pilot, stayed in contact per phone, and answered all my questions. After our trip in a rental car, we drove 2.5hrs. back to Gates Honda. Brian McMahan helped us get into an awesome vehicle. He was very attentive and courteous. He provided an efficient hassle free transaction. When we were stranded on 75 South I told the kids it's all about the experiences in life. We made the trip and were only a few hours behind schedule. The trip was great, full of memories, and now I have a brand new Murano. Thanks to Brian for a positive experience at Gates. Ask for Brian McMahan!!!

Bought a certified used 2015 Odyssey, after doing thorough market research, at Gates Honda in Richmond KY.Though my sales person was new she provided a friendly, courteous, and non-pressure experience.I was especially impressed with the General Manager and the time he provided to mentor his sales team and providing me his time to ensure all my questions/concerns were addressed.The Financial Manger provided a comprehensive presentation of the extended warrantees available without the usual condescending attitude, which I have experienced at other dealerships, for questions regarding the various options.Overall a very pleasant car buying experience with the bonus of a very capitative price.I will recommend this dealership.

I was a bit apprehensive about getting another car as I had not had a car payment in many years, but it was time. I will have to say the people at Gates Honda were extremely helpful, kind, and respectful, especially the BDC manager, Brian McMahan. He spent over four hours of his working day helping me, making me feel at ease, and giving me lots of information. He answered every question I had no matter how small. Brian was very knowledgeable and patient. The entire Gates Honda team went the extra mile to help me get the best deal I could, I appreciate all their excellent work. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and I feel like I got a good deal driving away in a car I hope to enjoy for many years. I would recommend Gates Honda to any of my family and friends.

I purchased a Honda Accord from this location in 2012, my mother has purchased 3 Honda Accords from this location. ALL excellent transactions!I went in to Gates Honda with my mother this past weekend to see if they could work with her pre-existing lease - hoping to get a new vehicle or extend her lease. Her situation was a unique one and we weren't confident in how it would turn out, but knew Gates Honda would try their best for us... and they did more than that. The GM David and sales representative Patrick put their heart and soul into helping us and we couldn't be happier. They put their time, patience and full knowledge into putting my mother into a 2016 Accord and were even able to lower her monthly payments. Both David and Patrick did everything they could to assist us and truly treated us with the most respect and courtesy. We couldn't be more grateful for the experience we had and I will highly recommend anyone looking to purchase a Honda to visit their dealership, whether they be close to this location or not. They sent us home with a full tank of gas and David even offered to pay for our lunch while the car was being cleaned and inspected. This is what family is all about, and I feel like we were more than blessed to be one of their customers. My mother is moving to Texas soon and she will be driving back to Gates Honda to get another car after he lease has expired with this Accord, THAT is how much we loved this experience. I would highly recommend Gates Honda and we will be customers of theirs until we're unable to put our foot to the peddle. I recently purchased a 2017 Ridgeline from Gates. My local dealers in WV couldn't get the exact vehicle I wanted so I searched using CarGurus. Within an hour after I emailed four out of state dealers, Brian McMahan from Gates emailed me back(at 11:30 pm). He was the only dealer rep who I thought gave the best effort in locating the Ridgeline I wanted. It was difficult since it is a brand new product and Honda is controlling the initial supply. However, Brian did get the vehicle I wanted and the purchase and pickup of the vehicle was seamless. I traveled almost three hours to the dealership, so the effortlessness of the transaction made the trip that much easier.

Brian, from Gates Honda, was the only Honda dealer who was able to get the 2017 Ridgeline I wanted without trying to sell something else to me. We recently decided to purchase a new vehicle, and being new to the area we did not know any of the local dealers. We decided to visit Gates Honda to start the research process. It was obvious from the onset Gates was the place to work with to find what we needed. Zach Bowman, our sales advisor, was straight forward and simplified the process. We found the vehicle we wanted, in stock, and Stewart and David took care of everything while we grabbed lunch. This process could not have been easier or more painless. I will definitely go back to Gates when I'm ready to buy again. Historically, I've hated buying vehicles. Gates Honda has changed my opinion of the experience.

Just purchased my 3rd vehicle from this dealership. I have to say that they made this process the most enjoyable yet. They took a stressful situation and made it great. I think the Gates ownership is a big improvement even though my previous experiences were also good. I worked with both Alan and Justin and can say with confidence that both salesmen are amazing at what they do. They have a very low pressure "I want to make you happy" attitude. My experiences at this Honda dealership have been VERY different than with other dealerships. They were very fair in negotiations and with my trade in offer. I will keep coming back. :)

My husband and I recently purchased a Certified Honda CR-V from Gates Honda in Richmond, KY. Ours was a very positive experience. Initially we came to the dealership to look at a vehicle posted online, but ended up test driving a different vehicle. Alan Scott went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. We were treated like friends from the get go. There was minimal difficulty coming to an agreement on our trade in vehicle value. The General Manager, David, left us feeling like we made a great deal. The overall experience was very positive. Although we were the last customers of the day, we were never rushed or hurried through the process. We drove off the lot with a full tank of gas, smiles on our faces, and confidence in the wheels caring us home.

David Lail is the best manager I have ever dealt with. Alan worked with us on the sale. Jim Hinkley is the reason I keep coming back to Gates Honda. Jim is the main wheel in the service department. He also trains the new workers. This is our fourth vehicle purchase with a different manager for each purchase.David Lail worked with me better than any manager I have ever seen. We are very pleased with the service we received. Justin and Ean are the best service team. I will never bring my vehicles any where else. I drive 40 miles one way and it is well worth it.

While traveling from Indiana to Georgia, the sensor cover came partially off of my '14 Civic. My car is a lease and I feared travelling much farther without having it fixed. My husband and I were in Lexington, but when we called the dealer there, they were too busy to see us. Choosing a city farther down I 75, Richmond, we called and they told us they'd see us right away! Not only were they welcoming to us strangers, but they fixed the cover, checked our tires, and washed the car gratis....and they were busy with customers too. Such great customer service is a rare and wonderful thing! Thank you Richmond Honda for smoothing the way for us! Just one more reason to be sold on Honda!

I was shopping cars.com for a used Honda Pilot and reached out to the dealership via phone call when one they had listed on the site sparked my interest. Michael was the sales representative that assisted me thru the buying process. He was friendly to deal with and never made me feel like any of my requests were ridiculous or annoying. Jeff is the sales manager that helped us thru the buying process and he was friendly and surprisingly mellow for a sales manager. I was never pushed into anything.... They seem to truly want you to buy a vehicle from them because it's a great deal and not because they tricked you or pushed you into doing so. I would definitely recommend them to all of my friends and family.

Dealer quoted over price of vehicles MSRP and what they had it for online. Manager said he had my back but not even close. We went elsewhere and they got us a 2015 for under the quote of the 2014 that we were being showed at Richmond Honda. It pays to look on line then get all the facts.

Overall review SUPREME. Mr.John,Mr.Lail made it possible for me to buy a new van. I had to file bankrupt ,discharged 1/7/2015 bought a new van 1/21/2015. A.J Schmitke helped me with me purchase. He was very kind and polite. Everyone at the dealer was. I have been in many dealerships car shopping and have bought a few cars in my life. I have never been treated with so much respect and generosity before. They really make car shopping fun. The car I bought was a used Mazda, that was not under warranty. I was in a binned and need a car ASAP. A.J. was to the rescue and helped me saucer a loan for such a low coast car and I was able to drive off the lot that day. A few days after my parches the muffler came loose, :( after some quick rigging to make sure it would not fall off... I drove to the dealer and asked if they could fix it. A.J. was once again to my rescue ( expecting a no you bought it as is... the type of comment that I would have gotten at any other dealer) I was super excited when they said they would gladly fix it for me. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes, and free of charge!!! This dealer has outstand customer service. The owner should give all his employees a big bonus!!!

I went to this dealership to look at a used Ford Eddie Bauer Expedition 4wd. Upon arrival everyone was friendly and helpful. I told the sales associate that I wanted to look at a vehicle that I saw online. The sales associate immediately went to work and brought the vehicle around to the front of the showroom for me to look at. After viewing the vehicle, I was offered a test drive. My fiance and I dropped by one evening 30min before they closed to look at a specific car we found online. We had no intentions of buying this car that day, but our sales rep, David Johnson, convinced us otherwise! This was my 3rd dealership I had dealt with in one week and David was the only one who set me at ease and acted like he wanted my business. He was very personable and got us a great deal. The Honda Crosstour I purchased from him was certified and had a few scratches and dings from previous owner. Without asking he said he would have that fixed for me and so he did. Ian, service repair technician, then took care of me in repairing all my scratches and dings. Ian was superb as well! Alan Scott helped me with my purchase and everyone I have dealt with treats me wonderfully!I have NEVER had a bad experience at Sam Swope Honda! The owner should give his employees a bonus! They are ALL wonderful people!I DRIVE 160 miles and 3 hours to get service done here rather than take it to the Honda dealer in Charleston, WV. We were treated so terribly there and refuse to step foot in that dealership again! Unfortunately, it was the owner that treated us terribly. I will never take my car there again. I was 1 and 1/2 hours into an 11 hour trip and the air-condition on my Ridgeline went out. I stopped in Lexington and they couldn't give me the time of day. Richmond Honda fit me in and all with a quick phone call from the interstate. They sat my 2 kids and I down in the nicest coolest area. They offered us cool drinks and snacks. The kids plugged into the internet and watched the olympics. Before they started they informed me is was a recall and covered in full. RC just happened to be leaving but took the time to show me the vehicle and even let me drive it home that night to show it to my sister. He stayed and not only helped me but another lady that was having car trouble. He was there an hour and a half after closing. After purchasing the van, RJ helped me find a dependable vehicle for myself that's super on gas. They were willing to work with me even though I didn't have a great credit score. They treated me like I was somebody and took their time out to help me and go the extra mile. RJ was great, not pushy and let me look at multiple vehicles until I found the right one. I actually was just browsing for a vehicle,not certain of what kind or model i wanted at the time. there were several vehicles i was hoping to try out to help make my decision on the purchase. 2 other lots acted like they were not even interested in selling or even allowing me to test drive. Most of my experiences with car salesman are in the negative is a kind word to use. Jeff was great with listening to what i wanted in a car and what price i wanted to spend. he didnt try to put in something to fit the "budget" instead of what i wanted in a car. Last car i purchased took me 31 days to negotiate a deal. Jeff didnt have what i wanted on the lot at the time. He found a good car and exactly what i wanted in just 5 days and the day i test drove, i bought the car,signed my papers and was out in my new purchase in less than 4 hours. that is great and effient work in my opinion. Those guys worked as a team to get what i wanted and made me a permenant customer of Sam Swope Honda in Richmond Ky. great group of people! We originally purchased a 2011 Grey Honda CRV, there sales team and financing team were great. I saw a Honda that I liked driving passed one day. I was to get a four wheel drive for $19,999. It was a nice car, and well worth the price. As I was signing the paper work, I notice that I was signing for a whole different car. The price was the same, but the vehicle had about 50,000 more miles, it was a two wheel drive, and wasn't even the vehicle I wanted. I took pictures of the vehicle with the prices on them. I just wonder if I should make a big fuss over this since I let it go back.

Great customer service, and test drive. Just was in the "looking phase". Would definitely consider going there again (to purchase or test drive.)

We bought a new Honda Fit and had an excellent experience with Richmond Honda. We requested quotes from 3 dealers and Richmond Honda was the only dealership that actually got back to us with a quote. We purchased 16 hours after we received their price. We decided to even buy the extended warranty and look forward to using their service department. We will definitely be buying from them again.

It was worth the drive to Richmond after being slimed at Don Jacobs in Lexington. How refreshing! Straight talk, honest answers, none of this "I have to talk to with my manager" nonsense. Very impressive approach to doing business! I should have come here first.
