I set up an appointment to check out a car. I arrived at the lot they told me to go to only to be told that it wasn't there and it was at another lot. Then I was told that it was sold earlier in the day. Then supposedly it wasn't sold and it was taken to a 3rd lot for someone else to look approximately 11 in the morning and nobody brought it back for my 6:30 in the evening appointment. A complete waste of my time.

I would suggest an explanation be given to customers looking at leases about the mileage per month and how it has two different areas it applies to one is done at finance and the other that the sales rep talks about. Over all my wife and I are very happy with our lease purchase and the process we went through. I rate repairs as excellent from past experiences.

I recently brought my Equinox in for a routine lube and checkup and to mount the winter tires on my vehicle. I was highly satisfied with that service but ran into a problem when I utilized the complimentary car wash. I met with both Karl Vegso and Dennis Pynaert about the issue and was highly satisfied with the outcome and changed my rating from a 9 to a 10. As a former nurse who dealt with accreditations and quality management, I was pleased to say that Dennis applied customer relations principles and has proven that a happy customer goes out to tell others that the dealership/service department has good business ethics. I would also like to compliment "JB" who initiated the visit until Karl was available. I was impressed with JB'sknowledge of alerts as it applied to a discussion with both he and Karl. Thank you.

Always a pleasant experience! Wonderful staff and service! They explain EVERYTHING never leaving you in the dark or guessing! When I bought my car the sales staff was amazingly helpful ensuring my security with my purchase, and then during the service the staff there made sure I knew exactly what was going on there too. I even got to speak directly with the technician that worked on my car! They are a super dealership all around! Will definitely continue to go there and recommend other to stop there for both service and sales!

I had to have some extensive work done to my car that was not foreseen but Gates took it in right away & did an excellent job on the repair. They showed me the problem & explained it all very well. My car was going to have to stay the rest of the day so the shuttle driver was called to take me home & I didn't have to wait long at all. Everyone is always very friendly & courteous.

my body shop liaison, Brian, was very helpful in getting my vehicle in as soon as possible. He was easy to work with and did a great job at fully explaining the work that would be done. Once my vehicle was done, I was notified immediately and was able to pick up my truck within the hour. Everything went smoothly and my truck looked great, body work and paint both. Gates even cleaned the interior and exterior of my vehicle before pick-up. I only deal with Gates and I highly recommended them.

I thought I left Gates with the car I wanted on 6/20/15, only to find out a couple of days later that the car I choose was no longer available. The sales manager, I think, Aaron, found the car I was looking for, and I picked the car up on 7/6/15. I did not ask for a car which was readily available, so Aaron should be applauded for being able to find my car so soon. Glenn Walton was my salesman, and he did an excellent job of taking care of the lease without making me feel pressured. If I had to pick one negative point in the whole lease process, I would have to say it was the sales group and the the finance group. Mike didn't know until I arrived in his office on Monday that we were about to arrange financing on a different vehicle. Having said this, Glenn did have a significant event in his life that may have had some impact on the lease process. In the end, I got what I wanted.

I would love to have just ONE service person that I could always call. That person would know me and know my vehicle. I am always bounced to whomever answers the phone.My gentleman was very interested in other people's conversations, but did take care of my needs, even though not very timely. This is based in my experience not that I worked here previously .. The GM call center needs empathy training and how to think outside the box when they run into unique situations.. Such as not tell a customer who is a independent contractor and his vehicle is livelihood that can provide him with a vehicle that will allow him to continue his day to operations without a hesitation.. In all seriousness .. If it weren't for how Steve and Dennis stepped in and made sure I was accomidated and taken care of as a customer .. I would seriously never by a GM product again.. At least I know if don't get satisfaction through General Motors .. I have a place I can go to who will actual treat me like a customer .. Here's a recommendation GM send your call center staff to Gates Chevy World and watch Steve for the day.. Cause your staff at GM know nothing about customer service .. From your front line staff in the call center to your supervisors.. Tell them to take off their blinders and think of the customer first!!! Thanks Steve.. Brett and Jb .. Awesome service!!!

my only issue was that I was told 2 day repair, and ended up being 4 days (was told by more than 1 person, they just got busy-but no on told me that until the day I was expecting to get it back) 2 days free rental was the only compensation offered (30.00!!!!) I had to make an extra trip from st. Joe Michigan, to pick it up at 530pm

Service department only fixed what needed fixing. I thought my brakes needed work, but they inspected and said they were fine. They could have done work that wasn't needed, and charged me, but they did not. I can respect that.

When I made the appointment, I told them I was dropping car off on my lunch, and needed to get back right away. I got back to work with time to eat my lunch. I do not like filling out the evaluation form at the garage. It's fixed and my arm is being twisted to give an perfect score or person could loose his job. That's fixing the results. So I would prefer to not be asked to fill one out.

As far as timeliness, I thought they were excellent. Cannot believe the markup on pricing for parts!!(OUTRAGEOUS) They charged me $180 for a wiper motor for 2010 Suburban when I found one for $92 with shipping AND $20 core. Felt that was a bit extreme....

I had been in contact the Gate's Automotive Group for over a month. I finally targeted the ideal vehicle. Gate's was hosting a sales event with all of their local dealerships at one central location. My wife and I made an appointment to come look at 1 particular vehicle on our lunch breaks. We arrived, checked in and were set up with a salesman. They told that the vehicle we came to look at had been damaged and was not available. We were disappointed that no one had called to inform us of this. We went ahead and looked around and found a couple other vehicles that we were interested in, but left due to time restraints. My wife returned the following day to test drive one of our finalist. She handed a purchase agreement from the salesman and she was told that they needed her signature on this to preform the test drive. She asked several questions and he assured her it didn't mean that she had to purchase the vehicle. We came in with an approval through one of our credit card companies, we wanted to shop a little more to possibly find a better interest rate. The finance employee that the set us up with gave us another purchase order agreement to sign. This one had a completely different car listed on it, we pointed this out. He kind of laughed it off and corrected it. We gave them permission to shop a couple of their resources for a better rate. We were told we could go ahead and take the car home with us. They gave us a paper plate and sent us on our way. He made it sound like they were not going to be able to find one. Having this concern we went to one other bank for approval, we received an excellent rate. After I received this approval I tried throughout the entire business day to get in touch with Gate's finance department with no reply. I ended up going to the dealership in person after work to ask him to stop putting hard inquiries out. He assured me that he wouldn't send any more out. I told him that I wanted to go with financing that we found on our own. He stated that he had an issue with not allowing him to finish his search. I told him that I could appreciate that, but I wanted to go with the bank that I had. We signed all the documents with the bank we were approved by. We thought we were done with Gate's at that point. We were told they would have a check in hand by Monday morning. On Monday around 12:40PM I received a voice mail message from the Finance manager, who I had no contact with to this point. He states that he needed to hear from me by 4:00PM or he would report the car in stolen. I called him back as soon as I heard the message. I asked what the problem was, he stated that we were driving around in a car that wasn't paid for. I told him that our bank had contacted their accounting department and made arrangements for the check to be in their hands Monday morning. I told him about my dissatisfaction with the entire experience. He stated that I caused the problems, that my story was ludicrous and not true. I replied "excuse me". He said that as a business man and my wife as an employee for a very large banking firm should know how all of this works. He stated that they shouldn't have to explain everything to us. I replied again that I was unhappy with the way the entire transaction happened and I would like to speak to his supervisor. He stated the there was no one else for me to talk to about my issues with his department. I told him I would seek out and find some one to talk to. I also let him know that you do not treat customers this way, he stated that I wasn't his customer, I didn't work with his people financing. He told me to make sure I have my story straight when I try to contact Mr. Gates. He was very angry during the conversation. He spoke with a condescending, demeaning and very unprofessional tone. I had my bank reach out to him personally, Gate's had already received the check before this conversation took place. I am a Buyer by trade and would not recommend Gates

While I am satisfied with the collateral and the price we paid, the process in dealing with Gates has been a nightmare! I am a twenty two year old, first time buyer, who thought I wanted a rear wheel drive convertible. I spoke with William and he showed me three vehicles that fit my budget. He also took the time to share with me the weather conditions in South Bend and did a comparison between how the car would drive in the winter months. After 30 minutes of viewing my desire versus my needs, William helped me select a brand new Cruze with all the winter safety devices as well as a moon roof and got me a payment well below what I would have paid for the convertible. After our last winter, my new Cruze got me to work, on time every day even through all the snow and slush we had. It turned out to be the best purchase I could have made! Even my dad said the dealership went out of their way to take care of, instead of advantage of, this first time buyer. Mr. Kiel placed my true need above his ability to make more money by selling me the convertible that I thought I wanted. My dad and I want to thank Gates for taking the time necessary to truly understand my overall needs and have earned a family of customers for life. I am a travelling nurse that attends to older shut ins and have not missed an appointment since buying from William. Thank You!

Minor body repair and painting. It looks good. They thought they could buff out damage on the hood, but could not. They painted it. We appreciate that they caught it and repaired it properly without our having to return.

Brought my car in for an oil change and noticed afterwards that I had some odd marks on my alloy wheels. Called the manager and he told me to bring it back to the dealership for him to look at. I thought they had been curbed, but come to find out they were corroding and will be replaced under warranty.The manager was very professional, helpful and understanding of my frustration having a 1.5 year old car (that I baby) with rims already corroding. For this experience, I will always go to Gates for service on my Chevrolet as long as I live in South a Bend.

The fist warranty repair I have needed and the dealership finds a way not to cover it, The service manager comes up with a scenario that could have possibly caused the problem so it would not be repaired under warranty. I now know why I have heard about the poor service at this dealership. His response was maybe I could take it somewhere else and get it covered. I have always been a loyal gm customer this is my 3rd new chevy the second in the past 2 years but if this is the way they treat a customer maybe I should start looking elsewhere.

I contacted the seller through the online chat and was told that the vehicle I was looking for, though at a sister location, was still available. The salesman then tried to pressure me into coming to the dealership where he worked and started pumping me for information. I was polite but firm that I was only interested in the vehicle I found through cars.com. He mentioned that other people were looking at the van I was interested in, but that it was still listed as available. After I ended the chat, we drove 45 minutes to get to the dealership. A salesman at that facility was very kind, but informed us that the van had sold a few days ago. I was disappointed in the online salesman who was trying to get a sale out of me and didn't really seek to help me in what I needed.

I called to set up an appointment and was able to get my car in the very next day. Not only that, I requested that my car be finished by noon and it was! (with the exception of some additional work I wanted done). I was impressed by their prompt service. Brian S. (employee) managed the repairs and called to let me know what the status was on their work. That was helpful. Also, I enjoyed the convenience of the free shuttle service, which dropped me off and picked me up from my workplace. I had a very good experience at this dealership and I'm pleased with their service. Thank you so much!

The service department, this time J.B, and the next day the oil change gentleman helped me, but unfortunately I do not know his name, were, as always friendly, while remaining professional. J.B always goes above and beyond. He knows when to let me know things I should consider doing, without making sound like I crash and burn if I don't do it right that, day. Having wife that penny pinches, he make my life a lot easier. In the past when there were things that HAD to be done he handled me with kid gloves, which works for my personality type. Some one must have trained him well. When I am typing, when I hang around there I generally speak to who ever's ear I can bend. Your dealerships standards carry over to your sales personnel, as well as... I am remiss, I do not remember this gentleman's name even though we shook hands. I presume he is management, maybe a General Manager, or General Sales Manager. Even though I may have interrupted his morning paperwork with my asking at what age can I buy that Corvette without it being a mid-life crisis, he took the time to shake my hand very cordially. I retired after nearly four decades as an owner of a small Design/Build Firm and appreciate professionalism where ever I experience it. I realize your family has been in business since the dinosaurs swam in the St. Joe river, and it is easy to see why the community loves you. Once again we had a very good experience with the staff at Gates Chevy World. Our sales rep, Terri Calvin, was prepared and took great care of us. The only problem was having to wait over 30 minutes before we were able to start talking to finance. When we did, it went very smooth and Nicholas was friendly and explained everything.

I have always had good experiences at Gates. I always take a book to read while I eat popcorn and wait for my car to be done. Although my last visit took a long time, they found some additional things that needed to be taken care of. They explained what was needed and got my permission to do the work. I did not mind the wait at all. I read more of my book and ate more of the popcorn. (They did offer to take me to work and bring me back for my car, but I chose to stay and wait.)

My daughter is in collage and was looking for a good used car i told her to go to a reputable dealer she seen some she liked at gates we went over to look at them told the sales man some were around 4000 dollars no loan she is still in school bought one a 05 chevy did not even get it home and gauges start jumping all over check engine light came on call them ever be for we got home they said bring in back tomorrow and they would look at it they said for around 400 hundred dollars they could fix it i said but she just bought it and it never made it home there answer was if you read between the lines was to bad for you even call the general manager left a message never got a call back so i guess i could have went to any corner small car lot and by the way i also told the sales man i was interested in a truck for my self the Chevy i'm driving has well over two hundred thousand on it guess i will be looking elsewhere for one

I drove up to this Dealer from two hrs away to trade in my vehicle. I arrived at about 3:50pm. I had only one car that I was interested in from their website. I picked it out, settled on the final numbers with my sales guy, and test drove it all in 40mins. I walked in with an approved loan from capital one and a blank check from my provider hoping to fly thru the financing portion. Instead I waited in their waiting area for one of the two financing associates for A WHOLE 2.5 Hrs. There were about 3 people in front of me that still needed to go thru the loan approval process. By the time I finally get into the finance office the dealer is officially closed to the public so I'm thinking since I have my loan this should be fast. Nope, not at all. As we were signing I made it very clear to him I had a loan thru capital one, I was not interested in any other loan providers! In fact I had my paperwork to write the check! I noticed he had me complete a loan application, he didn't bother to explain it to me, just a simple "complete this form" he walked out if office back and forth to another one. I had no idea in the midst of the back and forg HE WAS RUNNING THE APPLICATION AND APPLIED ME FOR ANOTHER LOAN WITH ANOTHER provider! I only know this because I recieved a notice from PNC bank days later saying they were denying me for an auto loan! By running a new application and getting me denied for a loan I never would have agreed to apply for he actually made my credit score lower THAT DAY by 29 points. I think it's a big deal to apply someone for a loan and not let them know, espially when I made it clear more than once THAT I DID NOT WANT TO APPLY FOR A NEW LOAN OR ATTEMPT TO GO WITH A DIFFERENT BANK. From now on I will be very careful what I sign and if someone is walking out of the room with a form I signed I will be sure to rip It up if I am unclear on what's going on. (The salesman was a pleasure, no discredit to him)

Please let me just say that this dealership "636 W Mc Kinley Ave, Mishawaka, IN 46545" is the worst experience that i have ever experienced. Every time that i would take my car or cars in for service, parts were missing, parts were put on the car incorrectly something was wrong every single time where i had to wast my time and fight with the management just to get the service that i paid for. The managers at GATES in Mishawaka have no simpaty for the customers whats so ever. They will blow you off, and not help you resolve the problem even tho they know that it is their mistake. If i had a chose to walk the rest of my life or take my cars in for service at GATE i would honestly walk. That is how bad the service was and is very single time. The only reason that i went back is because they would talk me into it, and promises that everything will be as it should, when it was not. In all honestly if you have any respect for your current asset (your car) please take it somewhere else don't settle for the poor service that they provide. They might have the 9.99 oil changes, but if you only knew there that oil came from you would think twice about getting that oil change. Best of luck to you all.

I took my car in to get the alignment done on the car along with some other issues. Michelle Lowery was more than outstanding and very helpful with the issues that I had!!!!!! From setting up a time to get the car in to get work on, to setting up a rental for me, and to getting me back in my car and on my way! Although I did not not talk to any of the service techs,the staff that handles the customers where very professional and friendly along with the Serives manger with whom I spoke with!!! I went in to shop for a car for the 1st time in a long time. The experience with the salesman was ok. He was clearly inexperienced, but friendly enough. It was his manager that made me leave the place knowing I would never go back. This manager was the stereotypical "game playing used car salesman." He was condescending and tried to waste our time by making us go over again everything we had already discussed with the salesman. When we asked about price, he went into vague mode. I have a bachelor's degree in business and manage the accounting department for a large company in the area, so I did not appreciate being treated like "the ignorant woman" who doesn't understand money. I won't ever go to this dealership again. I proceeded to Jordan where I bought the vehicle I wanted and had a marvelous experience.

Gates Chevy is the only place I trust to have my vehicle serviced. The service department has always been friendly and very professional. Previosly I owned an '01 Blazer and had my share of bad experiences at other local shops. After being a customer for many years in the service department, I recently had a great experience purchasing my new Malibu from Gates!
