Incredibly helpful

I came to Garavel Subaru needing a new car after an accident that totaled my Subaru Forester. Dave was incredibly helpful and although it took a few weeks thanks, he was able to put me in a new Crosstrek within my price range. Something I didn't think was possible. He worked very hard for me but never gave me the "hard sell." Tom, in Finance, was also incredibly helpful in getting me into my new car. I can't say enough good things about this dealership and the Subaru brand.

My current Subaru died, and I needed a new car quickly

I had just started working with Dave Novik, as I knew my current Subaru Forester was about to "go,"after having served me faithfully for 14 years. The next day, my car officially died. The day afterthat, Dave spent his entire day, very patiently trying to find a car for me that fit my needs and myfinances. I had brought a can of soup for lunch that I had intended to take to work when we weredone with the arrangements. The transaction took a little longer than I had planned. Dave was verygenerous and offered to go to a local deli and purchase some soup for me (at his expense). I am so appreciative for his kindness, his caring and his patience. Having to say goodbye to my old car wasvery emotional for me, and he made the transition easier. Paul Albert was also very helpful in hunting for a proper financing arrangement that would suit my needs. Tom Nerreau in financing was also very patient and helpful. It was a very stressful situation for me, and his compassion and understanding was wonderful.

Easy and fun experience!

Jason was terrific. The whole experience was easy and fun. No hassles. No pressure. Everyone was helpful and friendly. And we love the car! We had one minor problem which had nothing to do with Jason or Garavel Subaru, but was a technical glitch with the telephone lines. A few of our calls did not ring on Jason's telephone but went directly to voicemail which caused a small delay, but nothing serious. We would definitely recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a great car and a smooth and easy purchasing experience.

Experience in Buying a Used Car

During my first visit to Subaru I met Dave and a guess I was impressed, although I really didn't recall that first encounter very well at that moment -- but I came back to the dealership when it was time for me to actually purchase a new used vehicle, so here is a shout out for first impressions! Garavel Subaru is great at matching customer with automobile -- both in terms of use and cost and in facilitating the process (interface w/DMV, insurance transfer, setting up the loan, etc.) It was one stop shopping! I was so lucky to have Corey as my salesman as he turned the experience, which could be intimidating, into an easy tour of available inventory and finding what was best for me. The huge amount of paperwork involved in a car purchase was boiled down into a simple process by Jose who gave me much confidence that I was working with a competent and honest group. The gentleman who handled the trade-in had a lot of experience and made me feel that he was working in my interest (I didn't get his name). And the folks at the service end, with whom I will deal in the future, were welcoming and willing to talk to me. I am very grateful for this group as they usually bear the brunt of customer issues. So I am a happy camper so far in dealing with Garavel Subaru Norwalk and I am glad to have the opportunity to write this review.

2017 Foreester MT Premium

Our lease was up on our 14' Forrester, working with Gary in sales was great. He worked closely with my wife and I to find us a new Forrester with the 6spd MT and a moonroof at the price we wanted. Because it was a MT vehicle it took longer than expected, but despite the longer timeline Gary was always available via phone and email and kept me updated on his progress. I also worked with Tom in finance, who walked me through everything and answered all my questions.We took delivery last week and so far we couldn't be happier. Thanks Gary and thanks Garavel.

Jason made my subaru buying experience very enjoyable. He is a knowledgable and handsome sales person. He likes long walks on the beach and playing with puppies. In his free time he volunteers in homeless shelters and methadone clinics. He is a wonderful human being and a true inspiration to us all. When I grow up I want to be just like Jason.

I had a very positive experience at Garavel and specifically with Dave Novik. We knew we wanted an Outback but were unsure on which model. Dave was very helpful in describing all the features the different models had which made our final choice relatively easy. Also, we were very pleased that we could get the car so quickly. Dave was always available to meet with us when our schedules permitted and provided immediate feedback on our numerous questions, which was vital in our effort to not let the process linger on. Pricing on the car was also in line with our upfront research and they were also very fair on trade value.

2017 Subaru Outback

This has been the 3rd Subaru I've purchased from this dealership. They have been agreeable and willing to get me into a vehicle each time. I've worked with a different sales person on each car. This last one I worked with Dave Novik. He was very easy to work with. Followed up politely and timely and show a genuine willingness to work with my needs. I also briefly spent some time with Fumi Muto. Who also struck me as capable and motivated like Dave.

Amazing Sales Experience, Poor Finance

My sales experience at Norwalk Garavel with Gary Baumann was great, he was phenomenal. When I went into the dealership he had the keys ready for me to go look at the car. Being that this was my first time going into a dealership to buy a car on my own, I really like the fact that he went through everything with me step by step which I thought was really great! When I went in to pick up the car he took the time to help me set up my Bluetooth and answer any questions I had and even gave me the basics on driving a stick shift car. I can honesty say Gary's customer service was the best my family and I have ever experienced at a dealership! As for the finance I felt very rushed, and received a completely opposite attitude I received from sales. We were given optional extra warranties for the car which after turned down the tone of voice changed and we were told the same sales pitch about them another 3 or 4 times.When looking over my paperwork I saw there was an optional etching fee which I didn't want, when I stated that I didn't want that all I got back was attitude and smart remarks which I didn't find professional at all. Such as "if I didn't want to take the fee then I could cancel my deal and walk away". After a lot of back and forth and having to involve the Manager we got the deal done. Overall I'm very happy with my new car, and I would recommend Gary to any one looking to get a Subaru which is why I gave this dealership five stars but I would just warn them about the unprofessionalism with the finance.

Great Sales experience, Poor Finance dept experience.

For Sales, I rate Dave Novik tops, the very top. He was patient, and excellent in every category in helping me choose between an Outback and Forester. He explains everything thoroughly and says I can reach out to him to help me with all this new technology in the cars. Thank you, Dave. I appreciated your outstanding service. As for the Finance dept, I expected help in understanding and explaining the costs of the car and its fees, etc. But, what I got were sales pitches about all the added products I could get, without enough time to figure out what I would need and not need. If I had it to do over again, I would have walked out of the dealership. Those products would add up to $6000 on top of my new Limited Outback. Absolutely outrageous!!Best said, if I had talked with the Finance dept initially, I would not have bought a new car at this dealer. This is my opinion.

This dealership was great. 100% best car buying experience ever. Elvin was super patient with me and really worked to find me the right car in my budget (BIG +). After I lost out on a vehicle I was thinking about, Elvin sent me a whole list of others to consider (again, with my budget and preferences is mind). I was able to research them ahead of time and then come in and test drive what I really wanted. Elvin is 100% A+. Jose was fantastic and not pushy at all when considering extra warranty plans. He was very clear about what was and wasn't covered. He answered all of my questions clearly and directly. Everyone was super friendly and like I said, not pushy AT ALL. Which I really appreciated. Everyone at Garavel made buying my car a great experience. Richard was really nice and asked good questions to make sure I was getting the car that best fit what I wanted. Moreover, I didn't feel like he was trying to up-sell me. He knew the car and was a straight-shooter, a class act. I really appreciated that. Phil assisted us the day we picked it up. We found exactly the car we wanted with low mileage. The dealship made everything quick and easy. We were driving our new ca in 24 hours start to finish. Smooth, easy experience

We went in looking at outbacks. Took a test drive, got a price, a week later they found the car that we wanted and i picked it up the following Friday. It was a easy, low pressure buying experience.

I hadn't been able to review much about this dealership online but it was local and I wanted to test drive the Crosstrek, so I went. I couldn't have been happier. Great Transaction

In order to have a A-1 dealer, you have to have A-1 people. This dealership has that. We felt the comfort from the time we walked in there. We worked mainly with Jason Witkowsky, and then Miles Shapiro assisted. Later met with Tom Nerreau. What a great team. They all had the answers to all our questions, and concerns. We decided on the Impreza. Most dealers would have you come back to pick up your care a couple days later. They had it ready in a hour. I would put six stars if I could, but there are only five here! Yet again, I had a terrific experience with Garavel Subaru, particularly with our sales rep this time, Jason Witkowsky. Great People, Great Experience!

I have been looking for the best car that will suit my needs. I came to Garavel Subaru to view the 2016 Subaru Impreza (5-door) then Kevin greeted us while we were viewing other cars too then he gave us ideas on how different models of Subaru varies and also gave us ideas about the technology that is standard with all Subaru cars. He is very polite and friendly, and he pretty much knows what he is talking about since he himself drives a Subaru car. Then after he gave us ideas, he asked if we have any car in particular that we had in mind then after considerations I came down to Impreza or Crosstrek then we discussed the difference between the two(basically not much of a difference) and what is the advantage of one over the other. Afterwards, He showed us the Crosstrek and test drove it while he explains the features of the car. Afterwards, he showed us the Impreza and ask if we want to test drive it too but we decided not to since the ride with Crosstrek was very amazing and I decided to make a deal with it. It was not a hard decision since everything was clear and simple. I made a research before coming but Kevin explains more what I read which is very helpful. So before that day ended he processed our papers, I had to wait for a week since the car was still on transit that time but he was very prompt in responding through my call and messages with regards to the car. Overall, it was very great experience.

Professional and Thorough

After viewing the Garavel Subaru website, we found a 2014 Subaru Legacy that caught our attention. We dropped by to see the car but it was unavailable at the time. Came back the next day and were greeted by Joe Wiatryzk. He was very professional and "down to earth" at the same time. He showed us the Legacy as well a few other models we inquired about. We test drove the car and were extremely pleased with it. It was not a difficult decision to make after much research before hand and the information Joe was able to provide about the car and Subaru in general. We were pleased to make arrangements to pick up the car one week later. After all the paperwork was done, Joe took us out and explained exactly how to operate the vehicle/what all the bells and whistles did/and helped begin set up of the hands free blue tooth feature. This was our first Subaru experience and we highly recommend Joe and this dealership.

My experience buying a new Subaru at Garavel Subaru in Norwalk, Ct was outstanding!! This dealership and in particular the salesman with whom I worked, Gary Baumann, could not have been more pleasant, professional, thorough, patient and honest. Gary was very knowledgable and really helped me to get the car that was right for me. I never felt any pressure to add on packages and extras to inflate the price. On the contrary, I felt that Gary truly had my best interest in mind when deciding what and what not to build into my model. I was in the middle of a move without a car that could help with my move (Mini) and so didn't have time to wait for a car that was in high demand as this Subaru Outback Limited is. Gary really expedited the entire process and kept me informed every step of the way. Forty-eight hours later I had my financing, a great trade in price on my used car, plates, registered, and a thorough knowledge of the warranties. Gary then sat with me and went over all the (fantastic) workings of this car. It couldn't have been more turn key simple. Gary even brought me lunch while I waited the couple of hours that it all took. And did I mention that this dealership is one of the few, if not the only, that offers a life-time Powertrain Limited Warranty on their cars? This is above and beyond what Subaru offers. Too bad for Gary that I will be keeping this car for a very long long time so I won't have the pleasure of buying a new one from him again any time soon. Great expreience

We went in looking for an older Outback, but ended up purchasing a beautiful 2014 Forester. I have to say Eddy was great from beginning to end. We showed up just before closing on a Tuesday and he showed us around to a few cars before setting up an appointment for the next morning. When we went back I was being very capricious with the different cars and Eddy was willing to tell us all about all the cars I was showing interest in. The Forester was definitely at the top of our budget, but Eddy and his manager made us feel really good about purchasing this car, as compared to the other options in our budget range. When we made it into the financing office the guy who helped me, Jose, was super friendly and got me the best internet rate he could find. I am SO excited to have this car for a very long time and I am very excited to be a new Subaru owner!

Phantom Owner of Norwalk Dealership, Paul Garavel

I wrote Subarau of America CEO and Paul Garavel over 2 weeks ago (8/22/16) about a problem with the rear door of my 2016 leased Outback. After several visits to Norwalk service center, I was told that I had to take it to a body shop. I refuse to pay for a defective automobile. I am not responsible for the rear door not being aligned. I did not create the problem. Any rust in the rear cargo area after years of water leakage will be Subaru's problem. I am putting Subaru on notice. I am extremely disappointed in the dealership and the dealership owner, Paul Garavel.

My experience with Garavel Subaru has always been a pleasant one.I got my 1st STI hatch back LE and then I got a Impreza sedan for my wife and most recently my new 2016 WRX. One thing I truly appreciated was to have a salesman who knew what he was talking about , he knew his product. This isn't always the case I have had many car salesmen who knew less about the car than I did. Also he wasn't pushy calling me 5 times a day wanting to earn my biz. My salesman in the onset was Miles I got my STI from him, well he is manager now so he sent me to Gary Bauman. Gary was extremely thorough like I said he knew his product. He followed up after a week or so to see if I still liked driving the car. Uh YAY!!!! I began my Subaru search at Garavel Subaru, because my dad had just purchased a Forester from them and had a great experience. I too had a great experience. I worked with Elvin DelValle and he was awesome. He was very welcoming the first day I came to look a the car (and my whole motley-crew of mom, dad and boyfriend). There was no pressure from him, it was relaxed and simply informative. Then Paul Albert went above and beyond to help me with costs and get out of my current lease with Nissan. For the final steps of buying the car, I met with Tom Nerreau from the financing team. He was laid back and didn't push too hard on extra warranties which I appreciated. A class above the rest

Garavel Subaru is a class above all other car dealerships I've ever visited/bought from. I just purchased a used Forester and couldn't be happier. All of their used vehicles are incredibly clean- interiors detailed, engines steam cleaned, tires/wheels polished. They make all necessary repairs (and some pro-active repairs) before putting their cars out on the lot, and their pricing is very fair and competitive with all other regional dealerships. Elvin DelValle, the Certified Sales Consultant that assisted me with my purchase, was great. He was welcoming, friendly, patient, and very knowledgeable about the cars I was looking at. He answered all of my many questions honestly and completely so that I felt I was making an informed decision on my car. He and his team worked with me on pricing and even added on a generous warranty at no added cost (virtually unheard of when buying a used car). I drove off the lot feeling great about my purchase. I recommend Garavel Subaru without reservation.

The Gold Standard

My experience was friendly, smooth and easy right from the start. It began with great service -- I never felt I was being "sold" anything. My salesperson, Gary Baumann, figured out what I had paid 3 years ago and produced a better deal for me. The car was exactly what I was expecting. The paperwork was seamless and smooth and took far less time than at other Subaru dealerships I have dealt with in the area. And there was virtually none of the selling of added plans and services and packages that confuse you and slow the process down.I have been a Garavel customer for as long as I can remember. They have provided friendly, knowledgeable and respectful service every step of the way (although I've never had any problems with a Subaru, and this is my fourth).Above it all though, Gary stands out. Always friendly. Always helpful. And always respectful and supportive, no matter how dumb my question or request may be. And he went out of his way to get me a good deal.I'm moving out of state soon. But in three years, I'm coming back to Garavel to get my next Subaru. Gary and Rich (the Service Manager)have made me a Garavel customer for life.

Like we were family

We recently bought a 2017 Outback at Garavel Subaru and we couldn't be happier. Our salesman Jason Witkowsky took plenty of time to explain everything about the purchase. After the papers were signed Jason really took time to show us everything about the car and didn't let us leave until we were very comfortable with the "substantial" technology in the vehicle. My wife needs a new car soon and we will probably be returning to Garavel/Jason for that.

Easy, stressfree experience

Fumi was spectacular as always but he was the reason I came there to begin with. It was also really good and easy to deal with Jason and he not only helped me learn about my vehicle but he also followed up with me a few times. I was purchasing the car in CT but registering the car in DC so Jason has kept in touch and kept me updated on the process. I would go back again in a heartbeat!

This is the 2nd car I purchased from Garavel Subaru. They called me up to see if I was interested in a trade in, and that they would give me a good deal on the trade. I came in to look at a 2015 STI. I got an offer I couldn't refuse from Corey. Got a great trade in credit toward the STI. Corey was kind and professional. I felt comfortable during this process where car buying usually is not. He had great communication, and walked me step by step through the whole process. Made it as painless as possible.
