Listed cars not available
Seems every time I call about a car it is unavailable. I hate having my time wasted.
No call back
I left an inquiry regarding a Q7 that I was interested. No one called me
Never purchased a vehicle here but..
I am reading a lot of complaints on here about the auction vehicles. They have stated to the public numerous times that no they are not a dealer, they are an auction house. You can choose not to purchase the vehicle once you look or listen to it within the two hours that they give you before the car is auctioned off. It's not like the mileage isn't clearly stated and honestly what exactly are you expecting from cars that have very high miles on there. No one is forcing anyone's hand in purchasing a vehicle from this auction house. In the past I have contacted them about a lot of vehicles to the point where I felt I was being annoying with my questions. They responded to every email I have sent. If you are not sure about purchasing any of these vehicles, like they said feel free to bring a mechanic to look at it.
I'm very pleased with my Z71 Suburban
I purchased a 2004 Suburban Z71 sight unseen from this dealership. I live over 900 miles away and I heavily depended on the salesman (Eric) to as upfront and honest with me about the condition and specs of this truck. I had absolutely no trouble from the salesman going out of his way to help me with all my questions. Sure, the truck is not perfect mechanically of cosmetically, but I knew this going into the deal. I was VERY detailed in the questions I asked and no I didn't like every answer that I received. The truth is, the price of this suburban was perfect and did reflect what repairs needed to be done. I'm ok with that. The suburban finally came home to me and it was better than I anticipated. The pictures they had on cars.com did this suburban no justice. Overall I am very pleased and will do business with this company again. Just be mindful that this is a production auto auction. This is not a corporate dealer and they sell the cars exactly as they get them.
good place
There where to few people to help at first but once I got helped it was good.
Great cars
They have great pricessss ! The cars are in great condition and they have a wide variety.
Not helpful
I contacted them about three cars. Five days later, I got a call back on one of the three. Never heard back on the others. They don't seem very interested in online business and wasted my time looking at their listings.

Stress free environment
Over all, a very good experience. They were right there with me, helping me when ever I needed. Thanks again!
Honesty is a rare gem
Every one we spoke with was friendly and helpful, but what was most memorable was the mere fact that they were honest in their candor. This is a rareity when dealing with virtually anyone selling a car. We did not feel pressured at all and everyone was extremely patient with us and our specific needs.
Basic review

Delaware Auto Auction--- Never Responded
I Inquired about a vehicle that I found on Cars.com and the dealer never responded to my inquiry. I cant rate them as a quality dealer or not, I never got the opportunity to work with them.
Truth or Dare
I purchased a car there about a month ago. I misunderstood the auctioneer stating 73,000 miles not 173,000. A bit loud in there, so really pay attention and ask again even though it is a bother to them. Also when I was looking at the cars still, they told me to exit the car its going to be auctioned and it clearly was not even close in line. Cute little car I bought... looked good...thats it. Needs so much repair,,,motor mounts, sensors, tires. Not worth it. And yet they told me it was the deal of the day. Single mom with 2 teens driving...Very upsetting. Selling the car to someone who has the opportunity to fix for a lot less. But still now my search goes on. I do however would tell anyone to bring a mechanic knowing person. That would be the deal.
Think "Twice" and get a Car-fax "First"
This place needs a a lesson or two on how to deal with new customers after driving over an hour 1/2 to see vehicle was greeted very poorly .. A very bad habit of passing the buck so one doesn't look bad. Very good at "Lying" to you in your Face! More than obvious the Vehicle had some major issues, was told they know nothing about the condition of the vehicle they just wash and sale as is and have the nerve to want to charge you $25 for a Carfax after you put a down payment on vehicle! ! Wow, really? Bad business people bad business!
1998 jp grand cherokee limited .9L
I asked for exterior, interior ad engine compartment pics and also to see the carfax. I live in NH.Before I make a time consuming and expensive trip I want to make sure it is he right vehicle.I am still waiting for the items I requested!!!!!! Ron

I brought a car from Delaware Public Auto Auction was told by the guy that works there my car would be repaired by they're shop within a whole week and a half for someone to look at it. I called on the day the guy told me someone would look at it and they receptionist told me the guy who informed of the repair wasn't authorized to fix it. She said they weren't going to repair it even though I completed a work order. No was even rude. Although Delaware has 3 day lemon law they refused to give me my money. I wouldn't trust them all they want is your money. They will lie. The isn't safe to drive.

NOT SURE ABOUT THESE PEOPLE
Ok, I found a couple of cars that I was interested in and I placed a offer in on them. I got a phone call asking me to come by to check out the car, I ask a couple of questions about the mileage which she gave me and I ask about the condition of the car, she said they done inspection on the cars and if anything was seriously wrong with the car they would no sell it and return to the owner!! well reading these reviews don't sound to good to go forward with buying a car from them. I hate liars and I suggest that no matter what you buy to go to customer reviews so you can get a feel of the company your about to deal with. If you get 1 or 2 customers saying bad things you can caulk it up but if you get more bad reviews than that you have to say to yourself that something is wrong with the company and don't buy anything from them!! I was told that they had extra fees applied and i ask about giving a large down payment and pay monthly for the balance, they said the car had to be a 2000 model or higher, the one i inquired about was a 1999, then i saw a 2000 I liked and ask if I could get financed on a small balance, they said no to that because the mileage had to be under 200,000 cant win for loosing. I also ask if the car can be test driven, they said only by one of there people?? what!! that alone should make you not want to buy a car from them, if they are afraid because they don't own them and don't want anyone going into the street, they have a giant field you should be able to drive it around the fenced area....at least!! can't get good dealings these days you got people out here that wants to take your money and run and don't care about it! Just like Government ..just don't care about people. BAD DEAL PEOPLE
No customer Service.
I contacted the auction via e-mail about a car I was really interested in. I got back a pre-written reply inviting me to come down and check the car out. Yes I could have done that, but I had questions that could have been answered prior to going, and since they offered the service, I figured what the heck. What good was having the e-mail available if your going to respond this way. Needless to say I went elswhere to purchase a car.
This is a little old
Ok, So i acutally bought a car from here a while ago, maybe two years, it was a 2002 silver dodge intrepid. The car has been great to me. I know they say you run a risk when you shop at an auction, i think since buying the car i've only had to put $800. in the car.... The workers were super frendly and the fact that they let you start the car and listen to the motor run screams bundles for this place. We will be back fro sure as soon as we have the money. My only advice to anyone looking is.... stay away during Income tax season becuase you may end up pay a few hundred more then you would outside of that season. Good luck and shop smart!
Don't Buy your car here!
Granted I should have taken everyone's advice and not brought a car from here. However, I came down as a regular customer and did not buy at auction. I looked it over. It said it had a clean car fax. The sales person said they would have it checked out in their shop for major issues and if it came back with any issues that would cost over $500 then I could get out of the purchase. The only catch was that I had to sign for the purchase that night. Well I felt fairly confident that I was doing the right thing so I agreed and paid my deposit. Came back two days later because they called me an ensured that the car was fine. Eric ripped up my original paperwork and wrote new paperwork that toke the issues over $500 verbage off. I paid my money and was told to get the car inspected at the DMV and come back. It passed DMV inspection. However, not even 30 days later the motor has blown and my money is wasted. I called Delaware Public Auto Auction to let them know (since I brought the car retail not as an auction) , they said "AS-IS, is, AS-IS Sorry" Seriously doubting that they ever looked at the car for issues. Take your chances dealing with them and you may learn an expensive lesson like me. $3,600 for a car from 5/28/13 to 6/16/13.
Not bad for an auction... friendly service
I brought a car from here a few years ago and it ran great for a little ford. the only problem was no AC which i was able to fix pretty easily. I kept it for about 3 years before buying a new one and am currently thinking about going back for a used car this year. Given lack of issues i had with the car i rec'd from Dpaa last time i feel confident. Its an auction so taking your mechanic with you is the key. shop smart!!!
Don't believe the hype!
Going to an auction is not how it used to be... Once upon a time you could go catch a great deal, such as vehicles seized from high rolling drug dealers. Then people became aware of the profit. I believe good vehicles pass by the dealers but they buy them for themselves and sell them separately from the business. I saw a beautiful 2002 camry Toyota here... popped the hood (which they try to deter you from doing) and saw brown/ rusty leakage all over the engine. Red Alert! Overall I smelled sharks swarming around that place!

My father had a bad experience with DPAA years ago after buying a Caddilac. I purchased a Caddilac last wehat required some work but nothing major. The customer service was excellant.
Buyer's Beware 2012-2013 Income tax Customers!!!
I took a friend to Delaware Public Auto auction Last year when she recieved her income tax money. She purchased a 2002 truck great body, nice clean lookin Engine, drove great, However after paying for the vehicle and driving across the Delaware Bridge The truck broke down.. we called back to the Auction and asked to speak with Brian they gave us attitude and refuse to help..My friend had to Junk the truck because the engine was Gone in it, Her whole $4,596 dollars tax money was taken from her in a few seconds, they did nothing to Honor that sale...although no one likes car payments wouldnt you rather spend your money at a dealer and know your getting something reliable than taken chances of getting a Lemon..FYI those cars you buy at the Auction are not covered under the Lemon Law!! so do your home work before going to purchase a car from those Ripoffs and remember all that smiling & Joking around it doesnt mean nothing its all about them making money they are not your friend!!!!! :(
Buyer beware
The experience of buying at auction was exciting, however after the purchase it went downhill very quickly. As we drove off the lot, heading to the DMV for the inspection, the check engine light came on. We were not one block from the auto auction. Of course it failed the inspection with MANY codes listed on the report. I took the car right to my mechanic and he started fixing the problems as listed on the report. Every time a problem was repaired, it would take 7-10 days for the computer to reset, which is common with older Nissan's. After the computer reset another code would show up that needed to be addressed. Finally after three trips to DMV for inspection, and 58 days of repairs, it finally passed. I was so happy after such a long ordeal. Then after receiving the run around from the Auto auction, I learn they can't extend my temp. tag. So after 2 months of mechanic bills and a new job to attend, the car is parked until I receive the plate from them. One week later, and all I get is attitude when I call to see if my plate has arrived. No customer service. I did my due diligence trying to get this car to pass inspection, and sure do not appreciate their lack of service after the car is sold. After the auction, taxes, registration, and title fees plus the cost of repairs, I could have purchased a nice used car from a reputable dealership.
Very helpful
I recently purchased a car from the auction and the transmission with out in the first few weeks so i called the auction and explained what happened. In speaking to the manager he made it clear that because they are an auction the cars are sold as is but insisted that he would still do all he could to help out. He encouraged me to bring my car back to the auction to confirm the problem it had. I said no at first but after getting a quote of nearly $2000 from my local mechanic i figured i had nothing to lose. The manager arranged for my car to be picked up and taking in, the car was looked over and confirmed it was a bad transmission. The manager again assured me he was do all he could to help with the cost and when he called my back I was shocked to hear that the cost of the repair would only be $700 and that the manager was able to get the original seller to help with the cost of the repair.I wasn't happy about the cost but I was very pleased with the assistance and help the auction provided. One thing i learned from this situation is to learn where I'm buying from. Buying from and auction taking a risk but if approached open minded and understanding what your getting into i think you can walk away with a decent car and have a decent buying experience. What started out as a nightmare ended with so relieve, and a 6month warranty on the transmission that was put in.
easy process
The way DPAA has things set up makes buying a car easy ans simple. Not only can you buy a car on Auction days they also allow you to come in through out the week. I was a little nervous and apprehensive at first but im glad i decided to take the time to come in. The car i purchase needed a few things to make it perfect but it was well worth the money! Thanks DPAA and dealing with Eric was fantastic !!
Great buying experience
I went to the Delaware Public Auto Auction not knowing what I was getting into but when I got there their staff was friendly and courteous. They explained in detail how the auction process worked and even allow me to purchase a car on a non auction day. The car me and my husband purchased was for our daughter and it is good on gas, safe, reliable, and best of all ....CHEAP!!!!! Def recommend to all family and friends.
Buyer Beware
Buyer beware. If the car you purchase have mechanical problems that keep it from clearing inspection, there is so much redtape that will follow. DMV will not give you an automatic extension. The Public auction will give you a lot of double talk and you will be left with a car you cannot drive. Even with receipts showing auto repairs and failed inspection papers, this company would not help. They will sell you garbage they know can not pass inspection.
Buyer Beware
This company ia money hungry and will sell you junk.
Won't allow test drive
Went in to look at a vehicle, wasn't allowed to test drive it. Left right away.
The worst
I brought a car from that ran for about 3 miles. It's a been a year and they still have not released the title to me......
