Continental Subaru
Looked at a Subaru back in September 2012, but was still considering my options (Mazda3, Civic, Fiesta, Focus, Jetta, Prius). After all was said and done, I was back at Continental Subaru with the Subaru Impreza that I fit in without hitting my head on the headliner with every bump, got good mileage (> 33 mpg) and the price was right. Thanks to a auto buying program with a big box warehouse (sounds similar to Must Go), I finally decided on a Sport Premium Impreza 5 dr. hatchback without a sunroof at an honest price without any added dealer markup that is added on as SOP here in Anchorage, AK. Purchasing the car was a breeze and I paid all cash with no additional dealer packages/options being offered to me since I told them I was not interested in them. Others experience elsewhere will vary, but with the smaller buyer's market and no competition from other Subaru dealers, this was as good as it gets. 2 thumbs up with buying program participation at this dealership.
After purchasing a new vehicle(Subaru) at this dealership...
After purchasing a new vehicle(Subaru) at this dealership (Continental) and receiving what I would consider an average experience, I purchased a brand new engine "shortblock" from them for a used Subaru I owned. I had Continental do all machine work and assembly required to replace the shortblock, but I removed and installed the engine myself, since Continental was located many hours from my home. The new shortblock leaked oil from day one (my research showed that this defect was not uncommon with this engine type), so I brought the car to Continental to address problem. They said yes, it looked like the shortblock was likely defective, but since I had removed and replaced the engine myself, my only option was to remove the engine and bring it back to them, and if they confirmed it had a defect, they would replace the shortblock, ONLY, i.e., all disassembly, assembly, gaskets, machine work and installation labor would be my responsibility. I discussed this with them over several months and tried other methods to stop the leak in order to avoid the huge expense on top of what I had already paid. Finally, I gave up, removed the engine and made an appointment to bring it to their shop. They informed me that since 12 months had elapsed since I originally purchased the shortblock, they could now not give me even the parts replacement that they had offered before, and they were sorry about that!Bottom line- I purchased approximately $5000 in parts(including a brand new shortblock, machine work, and assembly labor and received a completely defective engine. I ended up purchasing a used complete engine elsewhere and installing it.I am very unsatisfied. Will only do business with this dealership if it is unavoidable.
We have owned Subarus for over 40 years, always purchased...
We have owned Subarus for over 40 years, always purchased from Continental Motors and serviced there as well. Jake Engstrom has been one of the service writers for as long as I can remember and we always try to go to him when we need work done. He is very knowledgeable and patient. Recently we took our Tribeca in for work on the struts. Due to some unseen problems with corrosion, they were not able to complete the work by the end of the day, so we were offered a loaner car until the work was completed the next day. When I went to pay the bill I asked if they had a senior discount and was given one. The shuttle service offered by Continental is very efficient. I was home in less than an hour from the time I dropped off our vehicle. This is just one of many good experiences we have had with Continental's service department.
The service is excellent from the moment I make the phone...
The service is excellent from the moment I make the phone call to schedule the appointment. They have a great system that gets customers in and out of the service department. If not, there is a shuttle that does a drop off and pick up. Everything is explained very well with patience and never in a condescending manner. I would also like to recognize all of the "behind the scenes" employees (i.e.: mechanics) who are actually the reason the system works so well. They are quick and competent! Thank you Continental Motors . . this is my first Subaru and I love it!
