We came from Greenville SC to Columbia and on the way there I txted the owner just to let him know that we were heading his way to look at the vehicle not planning on him coming out on a Sunday. He txted back to say he would come out after Church. Price was good but after talking with my wife he came down a little bit more. I visited Carolina Motors after seeing the truck I was looking for posted on the internet. I had no prior experience with Carolina Motors. I called to arrange to view the truck and they made that available right away. I was shown the truck, given the details and history of vehicle, and test drove truck. There was never any pressure or products being pushed. The truck was exactly what I was looking for. All paperwork was handled very quickly and I was on my way. I met with both Salesman and Owner during the paperwork. Both very nice guys. This is the easiest vehicle transaction I have ever done and I've purchased both new and used vehicles in the past. I would recommend this dealer to anyone looking for a used car/ truck.

I, normally, would rather buy a used car from a big dealer and steer clear of small used car lots, especially if financing is involved. However, I found a car that I had been looking for at Carolina Motors and read several of the reviews here on cars.com. I decided to give them a chance, and I couldn't be happier that I did. Carolina Motors has a well maintained website. It is updated regularly and they offer several varied photos of their cars. I dealt with John Staggs, who immediately was very personable, but not fake-personable. It was obvious that John has a passion for helping customers first and selling vehicles secondary. We immediately test drove the car and within minutes were working on a fair trade for my vehicle and negotiating the paperwork for my new car. There was no pressure or extra sales pitches for added maintenance plans, etc.. The whole process took me 30 min! I later told my wife I had to remind myself that I had bought a car, because normally I would have to sit for hours at the larger dealers. I was very impressed with Carolina Motors and would recommend them to anyone. The common themes from the other reviews were "honest and integrity" which I found to be all true. Again, John was straightforward with no nonsense and a pleasure to deal with. You owe it yourself to give them a chance. I love my new (to me) car! Thanks again to the staff at Carolina Motors.

During my 60 plus years I have never been treated with such honesty and genuine care while trading a vehicle as I encountered at Carolina Motors. I wanted James Carter and his staff at Carolina Motors to help me because I knew they wouldn't just sell me a vehicle to "pad their pockets". James searched for the right vehicle that would check all of my boxes. I'm sure I drove him a little bit nuts trying to help him find my vehicle and finally realized he didn't need my help for he had my best interest at heart ! The day that he showed me the 2102 Ford Lariat, 4x4, I knew my search was finished. You see, this search had been ongoing for several months with James actually talking me out of just settling for a vehicle. He promised me he would find me the truck that would satisfy my wants and needs and he did just that. Speaking from a first time buyer experience, James and John beyond exceeded my expectations for an excellent car buying experience. I was referred to James by my father-in-law who has purchased several vehicles from Carolina Motors in the past. James Carter and John Staggs are top notch people who sincerely care about getting you in the right car. They showed me what they had and didn't pressure me into anything. It's a very relaxed atmosphere and a great buying (or browsing) experience. I bought a Dodge Caravan and when I went back for some advise (had a small transmission issue) they did everything to make sure I was still comfortable with my purchase (even though I already put 5,000 miles on the vehicle). I highly recommend Carolina Motors on 378 and will most certainly purchase my next vehicle from them!

These guys are great i just stopped by one day to look around and saw my 2009 ford fusion and i love it. No pressure dealing with John we just haggeled a while came to an acceptable price and the whole deal went great. I found a nice F-150 for sale from these guys. John always answered my calls and took care of everything with my bank. All I had to do was drive to South Carolina from Georgia. When I got there, John was waiting for me and we took care of the paper work and I was out driving my new truck in under an hour. Honesty is the best way to describe Carolina Motors. They didn't try to hide anything and that put my mind at ease. I will tell everyone who is looking for a car to check these guys out. It is worth the time. I know next time when I'm looking for another truck I'm going to look at what Carolina Motors has in stock first before looking anywhere else.

They are not merely interested in selling you a vehicle "today." They want you to have a good enough experience where you will buy more vehicles from them in the future. I purchased an eight year-old truck from Carolina Motors 378. It is in very good condition. The price was fair. My trade-in value was reasonable. The actual transaction was as easy as they come. The last time I purchased a vehicle for myself was 10 years ago. I wish I had purchased from Carolina Motors 378 back in 2004! I intend to be a repeat customer in 10 years when it's time to replace the truck.

I purchased a van for easy entry and exit due to an arthritic hip. I had looked around the state for a decent vehicle with not too many miles, but had the equipment I wanted. I checked Carolina Motors 378 web site and they had three vans that I liked. One of them was sold before I even called! I was familiar with this dealer, as I work in auto finance, and knew they enjoy a good reputation. When I called John, we discussed the two remaining vehicles, told him the one I liked best, and he informed me of the details that I didn't learn from their website. I have known John over a few years, so we were able to work out a final sale price before I even looked at the van! When I went to drive/buy it, John told me the van needed a new radio antenna; and already had the repair set up! It was a seamless transaction, and I have nothing but excellent service from the vehicle and this dealer.

I found my 2004 Chevy Impala by actually going online to craiglist and saw a picture of one of the cleanest used cars I have ever seen. Mr. John was more than gracious when speaking with me and helped me get in the car I really wanted. Not only that, he helped me like I was a family member, and that kind or kindness is a rarity in the car selling business. I will most definitely buy my next car from them and nobody else. My car is in great shape just like they said, and I am more than satisfied with my purchase. You are really doing yourself a disservice if you do not buy your next vehicle from these great people at Carolina Motors. I really appreciate the way they did business with me and it made me feel like there are still some good people in this world. They even call to check up on you later on to see how you are doing and if you still like your purchase. Now you can't even name one car dealership that does that.

I purchased a 1998 Chevrolet Corvette. The salesman said the car was in great condition. I did not try the key fob that locks and unlocks the door because the car was unlocked when I test drove it. When I arrived at home I discovered the key fob did not work. About a week later the back glass fell out. All the tires were dry rotted and had to be replaced the second week I owned the vehicle. The air conditioner stopped working during the first week. The tire sensors had to be set. The windshield wiper blad scratched the windshield. The hose on the windshield reservour had to be replaced. It was raining when I bought the car so I did not check several of the items that I should have. I have owned the car for 6 weeks. I have spent 3,800.00 on the car to date. I called the dealer and they acted like they could care less. They could of at least replaced the key fob. I would never buy anything else from these guys. I was very disappointed because they seemed very nice during the sales process.

We found what was thought to be the Tahoe we had been searching for at this dealership. I conveyed my interest and was quickly and politely contacted by john. My Fiance and I drove 80 miles one way to look at the vehicle on 6/6/13. At first glance it was everything we wanted right down to color, mileage, and loaded with options. John was very polite and very easy to deal with (most people don't take us serious due to our age.) He quickly allowed us to see the entire vehicle and offered for us to take it on a test drive. We fell in love with the vehicle! But there was one thing, I crawled under the vehicle and found the frame was rusted pretty bad and the entire underside of the vehicle was spray painted black (including the muffler). I immediately took a video with my phone showing the damage and proceed to simply "flaking" the paint away exposing a worse rusted frame. (I do still have these videos taken in a shopping center almost a mile away.) We returned from the test drive and I expressed my concern of the rust and how it appeared to be from the north. John responded with " Oh no! I don't purchase any vehicles from the north." Still interested in the vehicle, we proceeded to his office to view the Carfax report. The report clearly shows 3 previous owners and has been titled in Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Indiana was the most recent. Finding John to be hard not to trust, my fiance again drove the 80 mile one way trip to purchase the vehicle without me (6/7/13). 4 days after purchase (6/11/13) I received a phone call at work saying the brake pedal was just going to the floor and the vehicle was hard to stop. I inspected the vehicle to find there was little brake fluid in the reservoir. I filled with fluid only to find a metal brake line was extremely rusted and ruptured. There are a series of 4 brake lines plumbed in the same area, all of which were in horrible shape. My mother contacted John (due to my work schedule) and asked about any warranty for repairs. And exactly as my paperwork says "AS IS- NO WARRANTY." So I replaced all 4 of the brake lines in that area. I now hold my breath waiting on what else will crumble away while we make payments on this vehicle. I feel we paid for the vehicle we saw at first glance, but received much less. I want to be clear, I am not asking for anything. I only wish to inform the next customer of the nightmare we are caught in. ****If any contact is attempted, I request to be the one contacted (Trevor)

My wife and I had a wonderful experience shopping and buying a GMC Yukon from Carolina Motors. John was very helpful! He was not pushy! We had already looked at the vehicle online and did our research. The Yukon was originally priced around $1,500.00 less than the blue book and we were willing to pay that price. We were shocked when John took another $1,000.00 off while we were looking at the Yukon. We knew this car was the one we wanted. We gave John a deposit and would return the next day to purchase the vehicle after doing the financing through our bank. Our bank needed to inspect the vehicle and take pictures since Carolina Motors is not a "big" dealership. The bank's loan officer was going to drive to Carolina Motors but John had the car taken to the bank. What service!! The loan officer was amazed! She told us this at closing. When we returned the next day with the check, John had the car ready and we were in and out in less than ten minutes. The whole buying process (looking & purchasing) took less than a half hour!! John went above and beyond! We purchased the Yukon on March 29th and today is April 15th. We have already driven the car to Virginia Beach and back and put around 1,500 miles on the car. No problems so far! We love this Yukon!! Thanks Carolina Motors!!

If you want to buy from someone very trust worthy and honest. ....James Carter is the way to go. I was shopping around for a G35 and had my mind set on a few. Until I found the one Carolina motors was selling . He had a 2004 G35 turbo charged. Price was very amazing due to the low miles it had and tons of upgrades. I was kinda iffy at first.....because this car was in South Carolina and im from TEXAS.! Long story short....he did amazing work and went the extra mile to prove to me I wouldnt be upset if I flew over....he handled the bank for me and even drove to pick me up from airport Overall. ...I was very pleased and I would definitely fly to his shop again in future if he has my next car I want lol! I have to say, I walked into this dealership with probably a not so nice attitude because the thought of buying a used car was nothing I was excited about! These guys changed my whole outlook on used car dealerships and gave me hope that there are good people out there not just trying to take your money. The dealer was conscientious about working to find the best vehicle for my needs (LOVE my Nissan Altima!) and made sure everything was working well. Before I left the lot, we noticed that there was a problem with the sunroof. He arranged for the repair to be done at no charge to me, and provided me with a loaner vehicle until the job was done. I have had the car for 18 months now, and there have been no problems with the car. I have recommended this dealer to several people, a number of whom have since bought cars from him, and every one has been very satisfied with their experience. I bought a used Toyota Camry Solara from Carolina Motors early in 2010 and have had 0 problems with the car. It may as well have been a new car. Also had some work done there fixing a 1999 Jeep Cherokee Sport front end and the job was top knotch. If I shop for cars or need some body work done again, I will first take a look at Carolina Motors. I think they need to expand, as they are busting at the seams with nice cars for sale.
