Very poor customer car at service department

I own a Highlander which I bought from Carmax. The buying proces was fast but extraneous to us because my wife was out of the country and they failed to give us the specific documentations that she will need to complete the purchase. When we purchase the car i notice a couple of scratches which they claim it wasn't there and I know it was there but i didn't notice it because it was in the night. I returned to carmax to order an extra key. The cutsomer service called me and schedule me to bring in my Highlander. I brought in the car and took the necessary paperwork at 2pm. I was there at the carmax place until 6pm and started to wonder what must be happening with my car. I left the sitting room and went back to their reception and i was told that i was suppose to give some kind of paper somewhere so their system and tech will know that i was there. I was so disappointed and wondered while their tech or receptionist didn't tell me. Honestly, i was very disappointed and upset that Carmax made me to waste more than 4 hrs of my time just sitting and waiting for a service that never came. I was suppose to travel that day for Easter weekend. I will not be using Camax repair Services and don't plan to buy my next car from car max.

I have been through three vehicles in the last 30 days. Now, the newest one is in the shop!!!!! Guess what type of loaner they give me...one that smells of mold!The manager will argue with employees in front of customers. The manager will argue with customers! He thinks he can do whatever he wants because his sister is the DC Mayor!!!

The sales person was very nice but didn't really try to help us. He sent us on the huge parking lot to select a few cars which we did. Then put our info in the computer and said sorry, we can't help you. No explanation, nothing! They gave us a good price on our trade in but that's really all they were interested in. They wanted us to sell them our car and leave. They didn't really want to sell us anything. No minivans on their lot at all.

I looked at buying an 08 G37 from them. Beautiful car, except... The tires were dry rot. They did the typical dealer move, and brought in the site manager who refused to change them, and then said they would pass inspection. (I'm sure they can pass it themselves) Even the mechanics in the shop show'd obvious concern. They were so bad, they had splits between each tread. I wouldn't put my child or myself in that car. For 27,000, the car should be safe when you leave the lot. Side note, I drove 2 hours to get there. The car saleswoman I talked to was not there. The sales person that was supposed to be there in her place was not there, and it took them an hour just to FIND the car. My advice, go to a regular dealer.


One place, so many choices, oh my.

The way your greeted as you come in, makes you feel special. The selection that you have is second to none. The hardest part is narrowing your choice down to one. When they say "No haggle pricing" that's what they mean. Carmax made me feel I was the only one who was buying a car that day. Just the way it should be.

Went to this dealship to have my car appraised as I wanted an estimate so I could get a fair trade-in value (as I was car shopping). Kelly Blue Book valued my car at $2500 more then the CarMax estimate. They had a similar model on their lot for $8000 more, so one can assume they will buy your car and mark it up considerably! When I finally sold my car, I recieved $2600 more then CarMax's estimate ($100 over KBB) for my trade. The positive: this dealership will give you an appraisal in under 30 minutes and you can sell to them without buying from them. The negative: the appraisal is much lower then you can expect to get at other dealships and they are undercutting the consumer. CarMax is taking advantage of folks and ripping people off and they know it, beware!

I can't say enough good things about Larry. I asked for an older salesman that was also a father, then told Larry I wanted him to pretend that I was his kid. Sounds strange maybe -- but have you ever tried to buy a car as a single girl? Larry was wonderful -- so patient in thoroughly explaining every single detail of the CarMax process, as well as showing me countless cars. He didn't hesitate to tell me when a car I mentioned wasn't on his list of daughter-approved rides, or when they were cars he wouldn't drive himself. He had a lot of good advice about what would work best and spent a significant amount of time making sure I got what I was looking for.He showed me a 2006 VW Jetta, which I really fell in love with. I ended up going with a Jetta, but buying one new from the dealer. I still thought the service I received was so outstanding that Larry -- and CarMax -- deserved a good write up. Of all the places I went to look at cars (and we're talking at least ten different dealerships here), I felt best about the time I spent with Larry at CarMax. They just couldn't beat the 0% financing I got at VW.Thanks, Dad... I mean Larry!

Poor Customer Service in every department from Sales to Administrative.I would avoid doing business with this company by all means. If this is the only place on earth to purchase a car of your dreams,I suggest that you walk.I had to most horrible experience when I visited this location. My objective of purchasing a reliable pre-owned vehicle and to receive great customer service was not even close to acheiveing my goal. CARMAX sold me a high mileage "LEMON" ,that was many years old for an outrageous price. Within the three months that I owned the car, it was in the shop more times than I had made payments. To add, the Extended Service plan is a "RIP off" and I never received any so called loaner. When my car was towed back to CARMAX about 45 days after purchase,I had to pay $2500.to get out of the deal. I could not afford to maintain a vehicle that stopped running at every approaching stop light. So I opted to sale the car back to the dealership and walk away trouble free.They only want your MONEY. They will charge you the highest interest rates even with your 700 credit scores. When it's time to resolve poor customer service issues no one cares, and your calls will go directly into voicemail.To preclude this from happening to any one you care about,please pass this important information onto at least 10 potential consumers.
