I am from Decatur but moved a little over a year ago to Glendale Heights(2.5 hours north) and they were going to send someone up for me to finish paperwork at my work because they lost power on Saturday when I was in town to purchase my Pathfinder! Poor Business Practices

My initial dealing with Bob Ridings was positive. We were on the hunt for a used 2013 or 2014 Lincoln MKZ and Bob Ridings had the best selection and offered MKZ's that are Lincoln certified. We found one we liked so we traveled to Decatur to test drive the car. We were met by a salesman who set us up to drive the car. The test drive went well, the car we drove met are needs but was a bit more then we wanted to spend, we informed the salesman of this and left the salesman a very detailed "want" list for the car we desired including what trades we had and what we expected to get for them as well as the amount of money out of pocket we were willing to spend. Approximately a week later, the Bob Ridings salesman called us and told us that he had spoken to his manager and to bring our trades in and he thought we would be able to make a deal on the car we test drove. We made an appointment with the salesman to try and make the deal. We drove the trade in vehicles to Bob Ridings in Decatur, we arrived to the appointment approximately 10 minutes early. When we arrived, another party was test driving the car that we were interested in buying. This in itself isn't illegal, but, in my humble opinion, a bad business practice as we were there to deal on that specific car. In spite of what was happening, we continued on with the process. We asked the salesman what was going on and the salesman made the comment, "This is the nature of the used car business", he then tried to show us other MKZ's that we had already looked at and weren't interested in. Since the other party was only test driving the car, we decided to have our trades appraised for trade in value by Bob Ridings personnel. During this time, the party who was test driving the car, that we made an appointment to come in and try to buy, decided they needed to take it over night for an extended test drive. At that time we were less than happy about what was going on. The salesman returned from obtaining the trade in appraisals, stating that they had another MKZ with the equipment we wanted only it was a year newer and of course more money, we made known our displeasure of what had just happened, he stated that the other party arrived literally 5 minutes before us and there was nothing he could have done. It should also be noted that we were told that other interested party was the brother of the service manager and that they were 99.9% sure they were going to buy it. At that point, we got up and left. As I stated earlier, what happened isn't illegal and they are in the business of selling cars, but they could have simply told the other party that we were essentially in the middle of making a deal for the car with another party and if that deal fell through, they could have their shot. So, in summary, we made an appointment, we brought 2 vehicles to them for trade in, we had our time wasted. They could have simply held the car back until we had either bought the car, (which we had planned to do), or walked away, no harm no foul. Now, they have lost a buyer. Even if we wouldn't have purchased that car, we most likely would have purchased another car from them at a later time, had the right one come in. Enough said, I now know our business means nothing to them and that's ok but I will tell everybody I know what happened and recommend they take there business elsewhere. Just poor business practices. Doesn't matter if your buying a Chevy or Cadillac, a Ford or a Lincoln, used car salesman are used car salesman! I've been treated better by both Chevy and Ford dealers! One would think when your buying a luxury brand maybe, just maybe you would be treated a bit better! Me thinks NOT!!!! HAHAHA!!!

Bob Ridings in Decatur, has been a pleasure to work with in making accommodations to get me in a vehicle I liked. The staff was friendly and when I did have to wait I was offered a drink, coffee, soda etc. They worked with me when other dealerships wouldn't.

The experience was wonderful my Daughter went to the dealership with her sister and brother in law to find a new vehicle for the family not so hard on gas. The vehicle we had as a trade in was my deceased husbands truck which sucked gas daily. I'm working 12 to 13 hours daily 6 days a week so the kids did the investigating for me. The salesman Dan Lawrence was amazing he informed them of everything dealing with the car and my family was able to make a decision I was happy with, Dan was helpful to the fact of even be able to come to me with paper work because I couldn't leave my job, and their business hours weren't going to work for me. Filled the tank with 14 dollars yes gas prices are low right now but filling the truck up at theses same prices was close to 50 dollars it's been a week and it's still going the truck fill up would have needed gas again by thursday. Love our new Nissan Versa it's 2014.

Stephanie is an absolute Gem of a person. She is sweet, kind and as helpful as can be. She takes charge of the sale with great elegance, not pushy, or demanding by any stretch of the imagination. An example, when it gets to that point in the process where the customer stands there wondering, okay, where do we go from here? That will not happen with Stephanie. She gently guides the entire process with kid gloves. I am a bit older and have dealt with many sales staff, and in fact sold cars myself, and she is the absolute best I have ever had the pleasure of working with. There came a situation, which was 100% on me, and without me saying a word, and going on her intuition, she took it upon herself to try and fix the situation. I whole-heartedly believe her when she told me on several occasions that she wanted to ensure I was happy, and again, this is even after I flubbed up. I cannot leave Jason, the general manager, out of this equation. I have dealt with many GMs as I usually buy cars up in Chicago. They are all about the sale and that is it. Jason was there for my wife and I and spent way more time dealing with my situation than I have ever seen a GM spend on a customer. He is very pleasant, honest and kind. I have bought cars from one other in the Ridings Family (Jim Xamis Ford in Lincoln), and two years ago attempted to buy cars from Jacksonville and Taylorville. Jim Xamis is good, but the GMs and sales staff need to come to this store and take lessons. They honestly care that you were taken care of and happy. I cannot say enough about them. This was my first time dealing with them, and I do not know anybody on a personal level, at this store or the entire Ridings Group. My wife was so impressed that as we were leaving she said that when it comes time for her to buy a car, she was coming out here first. I cannot find the words to express my full appreciation for these people. Not to leave the business office people out of it, they are really great people as well. Thank You So Much Stephanie and Jason, I truly and honestly appreciate you.

My wife and I came in looking for a used van for her. Right from the get-go the lady we dealt with was nothing but pushy towards a vehicle we did not like. After telling her we didn't want that vehicle and found the one the wife liked it was a complete hassle getting to the point of filling out paperwork. As for the price they will try giving you every excuse possible to get you to agree to a payment you don't want. THIS PLACE SUCKS AND WILL NEVER GET MY BUSINESS AGAIN- stinks for them because we were planning on buying a truck as well.

the worst experience ever. they take a long time to pick up the phone and promise you that they will call back but the never do. the sales women kept checking her phone instead of helping me. the business Manger also rude. I told the sales women that I live far away and I'm willing to buy the car but when I came all the way the told me to leave, because I told them if we didn't finish the process by today I won't be able to be back, so they told me to leave. it was the most rude ford dealership I have ever seen. also when I told them to check the suspension of a certified ford fusion that I was testing, I was told that the service is busy. this was my story.

t I have bought 2 vehicles from bob ridings and have good results with both vehicles. the sale staff do not pressure you into buying the vehicle you are looking at. the service dept. does a good job. they will let you know if there is any problems with your vehicle and will explain the problems in detail. I would highly recommend Bob Ridings in Decatur. Whenever I enter the dealership,whether to purchase a new vehicle or take one of our cars for service, the staff members are friendly and make me feel like they really want to help me. It never feels like I am just a number or a dollar sign to them. The service manager always explains any work they intend to do, and answers questions clearly and without making me feel stupid. Jason, the most recent sales representative who helped me, acted in a most professional and courteous manner. I was impressed when, instead of steering me right to a car, he asekd a series of questions to find out what I wanted and what I could afford before presenting me with a couple of options. He didn't tell me what I needed - he let me tell him what I needed. As I looked at several cars, he told me why he thought the cars matched my needs. I left the dealership that day driving a new car. It was the best buying experience Ive had at a car dealership that I can ever remember.
