The best car I had! I would still be driving it if I haven't been in a terrible accident. I really miss that car. It's my style, the cranking Windows, excellent motor. She had everything and all worked really good! I wouldn't replace any other vehicle over this GEO. tan/pink color exterior? Loved it!

I bought this car in 1996 with 21k on the odometer. I don't remember doing a deal with the devil, but if I did, it must have been something like this... ME: "So, I need a basic little car that gets good mileage and is fun to drive and easy on my wallet. Oh, and if you wouldn't mind, could you make it so that after 20 years and 290k miles, it still needs no major repairs, and still gets 39mpg and is as reliable as the day I bought it?" DEVIL: "Hmmm, it'll have to be light blue." ME: Gack... well ok." Seriously, in the years that I have had it, many other cars have come to and gone from my garage, but never did I even consider trading in the Prizm. This car...wow.

I bought the car in 1999 when it has 104k now +200k still have the original muffler, front calibers, front shocks, fuel pump and filter same headlight bulbs, and still cold ac, really low maintenance cost new battery lasted 10 years start after one or two clicks. I bought it cheap to be my second car but my 1st car is gone and the prizm keep on ticking never gave me a reason to get rid of it. I see many prizms on the road when driving you just can't kill them. Bought 1997 prizm a year ago, the same quality

I have been driving this car for 5 years now and I have no complaints. I regularly drive the length of California and I've never had a problem.I also take it over many passes and through the mountains regularly. It starts every time and gets great gas mileage. For the money it's a steal. It doesn't have many interior perks, but it does everything I need.

We`ve had this thing since new in `94. Pretty much stopped doing maintenance for the most part about 5 yrs ago. STILL runs PERFECT - no smoking, loss of power, doesn't use a drop of oil ( even though last oil change was about 10k ago), gets > 30mpg ! Rides and runs good as new ! 150k, still original clutch, no problems other than alternator @ 80k. Almost all door handles, knobs etc. have broken, and paint has faded, but so what! This is by far THE best car I've ever owned, hands down! It takes all the abuse I can throw at it and asks for more!

Keep thinking I need to keep an eye out for my "next" vehicle, but I realize that's stupid because this one won't die and shows no sign it ever will. Now at 138,000 miles. Multiple coast to coast trips during transfers in the Marines, three years in storage while overseas, still starts instantly, runs perfectly. 31-32 mpg in mixed city/hwy driving and over 37 mpg in pure interstate cruising at 80 mph on my last trip! Alternator is Achille's heel; had to replace at 48,000 and again when it came out of storage, but got one w/a lifetime warranty from a national repair chain and no problem since then. Handling, acceleration are far from inspiring, but adequate. The car Timex would've built.

Bought my 1994 Prizm from my brother just recently, and it really has a lot of pep and EXCELLENT gas mileage. I get on average of 36-40 MPG. Coming from a 18 MPG gas hog i was really impressed. I wish they still made the Prizm. It is a very well built and reliable car.

The car is great all around, I bought it off of my neighbor after it sat for 2 years, believe it or not all I had to do was put in a new battery and the thing started right up! Runs great. I loved driving the car so much, I got it repainted, 17" chrome rims, factory style spoiler, pinstripe, and new speakers... Still workin on it as of now. Great car, has a lot of pep.

I've had two 94 Prizm LSIs - a manual I had from new that died in an impact at 149K and the replacement which I got at 110K and is now at 170K. Both cars needed alternators, replacement CV shafts (cheap $80 each and easy to replace - gets rid of the clunking when you tap the gas), both cars stripped wheel studs, radios died and knobs break. New car distributor at 160K. Old car drank quarts of oil towards the end but I blame my lead foot for that. New one does not drink a drop. I check the valve clearances every 60k when I do the timing belt - no adjustment needed. Front wheel bearings need to be repacked and adjusted occasionally (non-ABS). This car should last forever if not crashed or thrashed.

Awesome no frills car. This is a perfect car for new driver. Mine was a 5-speed and got great gas mileage. This was Toyota workmanship at its best. I had no major issues of any kind. A/C was ice cold, steering was awesome and it had plenty of pep with its 1.6 4-cyl. Most importantly, it is a very safe care. Mine was accordioned between two vans on the DC beltway at 50 mph. Although the car was totaled, my son and I walked away without even a scratch. The cabin area was untouched. This is the perfect point A to point B car.

Just bought the Prizm @ 177,000 miles. Using it as a winter beater. I couldn't have picked a better car. Perfect running condition. Strong 1.6L (didn't expect that). Handles in the snow like a champ!!. Starts right up, even in the negative degrees, and trust me, in Mn, it gets well under. The 5-spd. gets great MPG. Auto windows, locks all work. Resale value is strong. People really love these cars. Looked up parts before I bought it. They are all cheap. Perfect car.

I bought this car new in 1994 and have never had a major problem. The alternator went out around 100,000 and was replaced. I have 160,000 now and hope for 200,000. It leaks a little oil but this is from the oil pan and not the engine. It can be fixed. Always starts. I get 32 mpg and hope to drive this thing forever (now that I have a new van to pay for). The AC still works like new. The engine is as quiet as day one and it handles well on snow and ice. Left my wedding reception in this car, brought my first child home from the hospital in this car, and hope to take her to college in this car. If you ever get a chance to buy a good used one. Take it!

I bought this in 1998 with 55,000 knowing it was the same as the corolla but it actually looked similar to the newer body style. I traded it in at 182,000 miles in 2004 because I needed a truck. When I traded it in I was still getting the same great gas mileage when I first got it. I'm 6'2" and fit very comfortably. Side note. My wife drives a 98. It is smaller inside and we have had a number of little problems with it. (haven't even reached 100,000 on it yet)

Love the pep, the ease of handling, the smooth shifting, the look of the body. I'm sick over this car getting old enough that it might have to be replaced! Can't even feel the engine when it's idling, and that at 187K. Needing a new clutch and one exhaust pipe; after replacing part of one gas line last year due to rust. . . My dream is to find another out there, standard shift, of 94-97 vintage. What a fabulous car. Bought it at 24K, loved every day of driving it.

I bought the car in 2/2001 for my 16- year-old daughter. It had 125K on it at the time. The only repair I have made was to replace the alternator (this occurred shortly after I bought it). Now at 150K, it is being handed down to my younger daughter who recently turned 16. The car has survived Ohio weather for 11 years and now will be spending its "old age" (I think these cars age slower than most...it's got to be that Toyota reliability factor) in South Carolina. It still looks and runs great, and my daughter can't wait to put a CD player in it!

Only one repair in 11 years! Alternator went. The CD player bit it at about 100,000. I just put a changer in the trunk. The car looks like it has 40,000 miles on it instead of 125,000. I would love something new, but how can I justify it when the inside including the upolstery is pristine, it gets 33 miles per gallon every tank, it never leaks oil, and it even has the original brakes (I keep asking if they need replaced at every routine maintanence. They say there is still 25% remained.) Has never not started.

Bought it with about 25k on the clock in 1997. Chose it over the corolla precisely because it was a toyota at a chev price. What can I say, this has been an *insanely* reliable car. Now at 180k, and still going strong. Outside of oil and tires I've only ever replaced an alternator and power steering pump. I do run 10W40 in the summer or it does burn a little. Still on the original rear brakes and muffler! I'm only considering replacing it now because the (original!) front struts have gone south over the last 6 months. The body is still almost rust free after 10 years in Minnesota. It's never left me stranded.

This car is built to last. I began driving a 1994 Geo Prizm in December, 2002. The car had 140,000 miles on it and had never had any major engine problems. The car was driven 80 miles into the city of Chicago and back, 6 days a week for 5 years, and the car is still running strong. 1 fender-bender, no damage.

I bought this car based on my previous satisfactory experience with Toyota Corollas, on which this car is based. I bought it at 89,000 miles and it now has 139,500 on the odometer. The only expenses I had to make on the car, other than routine maintenance and tune-ups, were brake jobs front and rear. I experienced a cracked door handle and a broken radio knob. Also, the paint on the front end of the hood came off at some spots, and I observed this on several 1994 models. I guess the car needs new shocks. The car is so reliable that I plan to keep it until it turns 200K miles.

This car was amazing. I say was, because someone was kind enough to total it for me right before Christmas. After 10 years & 180,000 miles, it was still nearly perfect. The only repairs during that time were a fuel filter & a few rotors. You could hardly hear the engime run. I had planned on the car & I going out together but it wasn't in the card. It's the best car for the $$ out there. Foreign technology for a domestic price. You don't get the resale value of a Toyota but you don't pay the price either. I'm getting a 2001 tomorrow, identical to my 1994.

Great little car. It was the first "new" car I ever bought with 52K miles on it. I've put 68K on it since the purchase. The handling, creature comforts and overall performance has been outstanding. Negatively speaking, I did have to replace a master cylinder twice, at 65K and 112K, and at 115K the starter and alternator both went out within 2 months of each other, so I decided to have the timing belt replaced when the alternator was replaced. The repair costs were not very expensive. All in all, I am very pleased with this car and plan on driving it for a few more years.

I bought this car in '96 with 20k on it. It now has 112k, and the ONLY thing that has ever gone out is the alternator at about 75k. And even that didn't strand me, gave me plenty of advance notice. Almost unreal reliability in this vehicle. At 100k I had brakes done and a tune-up, but not because it seemed to need either one, just seemed the thing to do! I have gone way past the suggested 60k timing belt change. Oops. I also drive a much newer Olds Aurora, but won't get rid of this little gem, it's my transportation insurance!

My first new car! Driven daily for 8 years - almost 100,000 miles and still going strong. Decent engine power (at least without the A/C), responsive steering. Extremely reliable - only maintenance, and one alternator at 90,000 miles. Great gas mileage. Good sound system. Too bad Chevy will no longer be offering these. Will probably buy a Corolla (it's twin) next time!

I bought mine as a salvage vehicle, and I've had to fix a few random things, and it still has some quirks (can't roll up the drivers-side window if you're going above 45mph) but overall it's been good. When I bought it it had 94K on it, now it has 124K. In that time (15 months), I've bought 2 sets of tires, numerous oil changes, two alignments, transmission, starter, alternator, timing belt, replaced all the other belts and hoses, and replaced the distributor and everything that attaches to it. Besides the tranny, the most $$ repair was the distributor.

I bought my Geo Prizm Used with 70k on it, now it has 107k. I've had not ONE problem with it. Smooth, quiet engine, slick shifting 5-speed, great fuel economy! You can't kill these cars!
