We haven't purchased a new vehicle in eleven years. Partly because our Toyota RAV4 has been great but partly because I used to hate the car buying dance we used to go through. The offer and counter offers and the tension that lasted through the whole process. This time was different. We were met by Cherif Abbes who proved to be friendly, knowledgable, and most important low key. He asked us what we wanted and then proceeded to show us several vehicles in the right price range and style. We finally opted for a 2016 Highlander and took it for a test ride. There was never any pressure to buy and we both felt very relaxed. We had researched the price we could expect to pay and were relieved when the dealership offered us the car at a reasonable price. I did recieve a discount for being a veteran. We then met with Galina Fedorova who handled all the financing for us. She and my wife hit it off and shared a few laughs while the paperwork was being done. She also explained the different warranty offer available but again with no sales pressure. Our business was wrapped up quickly and efficiently and we met the manager Steve who helped locate the car we wanted with all the options at a different Toyota lot. All the people we met were friendly and knew their business. For a hassle free car experience I would definitely recommend Toyot 101 in Redwood City. Steve Langridge

We recently purchased a new Toyota Highlander from Toyota 101 and I was prepared for a stressful negotiation process. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised to find a cheerful and helpful staff. From the Salesperson, Lee Hamandy to the General Sales Manager, Andy Long, and the Finance Manager, Bret Chan, there was a sense of them wanting to help give us accurate information without any pressure to push us one way or another. They were all very professional, helpful, and pleasing to work with.

I have been taking my 2000 Tundra to Toyota 101 since 2002. Denny Stange has been my service writer from day one, and I wouldn't trust my vehicle to anyone else. Denny always recommends what my truck needs and gets it done right first time. Never have any problems come up that are the result of faulty repair work or parts. Denny Stange and Toyota 101 service technicians have kept my 2000 Tundra running flawlessly past 400,000 miles, and I expect to keep this truck in service indefinitely. I would not go anywhere else. Best service, superior value, professional and capable technicians. Where the customer is truly first priority.

Denny is not only an outstanding technical employee but Denny has the highest integrity of any automotive person I've ever known. Denny has become a good friend. He is a very valuable employee for Toyota 101 and one of the main reasons I always have my Toyota Forerunner 4WD serviced at Toyota 101

Frankie Chau was a very good salesman. I have bought a total of 3 cars over the years with Frankie. He is a very honest salesman. He explains and gives good advice and suggestions to the things that I don't know or understand. He is enthusiastic with his job and is always willing to give help and advice whenever needed. He is also very sincere and courteous. Also, the store manager Andy Long is very professional. He is also courteous and gave me a good deal on my car I just bought. My friends and family have bough over 10 cars from Toyota 101 since 1997. The people there are very friendly and helpful. One of my friends that I recently recommended to this dealer had shopped around at 7 other Toyota dealerships but when I introduced her to Toyota 101 she was immediately satisfied with this dealership.

After a long search for a car for my daughter (her purchase, I was just there for support), we ended up at Toyota 101. We weren't hopeful, as we had been to see several cars already, and had met up with many slimy, high-pressure sales people. We were, however, very pleasantly surprised at Toyota 101, as they had a car that she had looked at previously elsewhere, but had given up on (she was actually looking at another car they had there). David was super-helpful and made the whole transaction seamless and stress-free, which was quite an accomplishment since my daughter was a nervous wreck over the whole car search. The car was priced lower than we had seen elsewhere, and was in better shape than one we had seen the day before at a different dealership. They worked with us on my daughters financing, which was through her bank, but hadn't quite finished up. We were both extremely happy with their service, their quality, and their attitude. The dealership office isn't beautiful to look at, and the staff have a pretty informal air about them, but it is truly a no-pressure sales office, with good prices and a really good vibe. When my husband and I are ready to purchase a car for ourselves, which may be sooner rather than later, this dealership will be our first stop. Really much better than the other dealerships we'd visited in the previous 2 weeks.

Customer Service: 1.0 Friendliness: 1.0 Pricing: 4.0 Overall Experience: 1.0

Any thinking person who even spends a moment of research looking into Toyota 101 should realize there is no good reason to consider ever doing business with this dealership.I wish I had known better before investing time, energy, my wife's good will, and attempting to buy one of their vehicles from out of state. They take pride in having a no commission sales staff, but unfortunately that translates into no motivation, no communication, false promises, broken commitments, and an utterly terrible customer experience from beginning to end. My attempts to spend upward of $30,000 were rewarded with nothing but scorn and abandonment. In my case, I was told by the salesman, Chris S, that I had purchased a vehicle and it was off the market. I had sent a bank financing check in per his instructions. Everything was in order. He then disappeared and I had to spend two days finding out he had forgotten to tell anybody else, and the vehicle had been sold. Even though he had promised the vehicle had been sold to me (Ill put a sold sign on it.), nothing mattered. Perhaps most surprising, he was unwilling to attempt to do anything at all to make it right. A heartfelt apology and some sort of offer to help find another alternative vehicle would have softened the blow, but he could not be troubled to even respond to me. Who does that to their customers? Who leave them at the altar? And then doesn't even bother to communicate? The good news is, there are plenty of solid Toyota dealerships in the Bay Area. Toyota of Marin, not that far up the road, provided a seamless professional experience with follow-up, manager involvement, quick turnaround, and quality communications. They even offered to pick me up from the airport, which they did, and we completed the transaction is less than 90 minutes, & I was on my way with a Toyota Sienna.Toyota 101 management should be ashamed of their dismal performance. Chris S should consider whether customer service is really the right business for him. Ultimately, the blame must reside on a culture at Toyota 101 that allows kind of ordeal I went through with zero follow-up communication. Terrible.Save yourself time and trouble by finding any of the other many find Toyota dealerships in the Bay Area with which to transact your purchase. Personally I would not risk associating myself with this company until there was clear evidence of complete transformation. What a dismal failure at the dealership, utterly failing at the basics of being able to sell a car and create a satisfied customer, or to demean and insult a customer such that they need to let others know just how bad it was.

Great customer service and he honored everything that was agreed upon. Highly recommend this dealership. 30 minutes drive from Dublin. Don't be discouraged by their older facility because they have a huge selection to choose from making our shopping much easier, and their entire staff was super friendly. Just bought a new car and I love it! I was shopping around for a few days but didn't really connect with any dealerships in my area. For instance, the dealership I usually get my car serviced at made us wait like 20 minutes to even get a salesmen to talk to us. We were tossed around and even though it would be my car, the salesman wanted my husband to test drive the car on the freeway. At another San Jose dealership we were on the lot of 10 minutes eyeing a group of salesmen with no customers and nobody acknowledged us. Anyways my husband hashed out a deal at Toyota 101 and made an appointment for us to pick up the vehicle. I know we had a lot of people helping us but I cant name them all. My husbands review elaborates more. Arnel is a super star! Literally before even entering the dealership he had his hand out and greeted us by our names. In the salesroom there's free beverage and coffee machines. Arnel sat us down in his cubicle and made our deal happen. He got us a real good deal for our trade in and explained everything to us. Basically he made my transaction his priority at the time and that's all I ask for. Its a stressful time and a big decision. I'm glad we shopped around and found Toyota 101. They went above and beyond my expectations. Thank you

I recently used USAA to find a used car and went to the dealership today. I went to Toyota 101 on 525 E Bayshore Redwood City, CA 94062. I called at 1030 for an appointment to see the vehicle, providing the description and VIN of the vehicle. The salesperson, Justin, informed me that he would have the keys ready for me. I replied that I would be there within the hour. I arrived at 1115 for the vehicle/test drive. Justin had taken another client, missing our appointment, then I was informed by another associate, Arnel, that the vehicle was sold. After leaving the dealership, I recieved another call from another salesperson who confused me with a different client, asked if my father was going to buy one of the cars I was shown. When I stated I think they have the wrong person, I was abruptly hung up on. My experience with this dealership has been tumultuous and the professional etiquette all but non-existant. I believe this was a bait and switch on their part and I complain here to warn others of their poor practice.

Beware of this dealership. Their sales person Jimmy gave me a price quote on the phone. I called him 2nd time before driving to this location to confirm the price quote. When I got there, I was told Jimmy is busy and another sales person helped me with test drive and application. When we are down to numbers, he quoted me $1000 more than what Jimmy quoted. When I asked for Jimmy, I was told he left. That's when I realized this dealership is playing their classic game of quoting low to get customers into the dealership and later quote high. I asked for the dealership manager and he said he does not know why Jimmy quoted the price but he can't honor the price I was quoted. He was speaking as thought he does not have any responsibility and not even apologetic. Overall I wasted 2 - 3 hours in this dealership. Very disappointed. Finally I ended up buying in Stockton Toyota who were fantastic in terms of customer service and keeping their word.

As consumers in the era of e-commerce we experience both "price-war" style competition among corporations while blissfully maintaining the expectation we automatically will receive A-1 products and services. Genuine customer service is also taken for granted- a sad realization. Honorable and admirable customer service is devolving from what I've observed in my vast 30 year career. No matter where I find myself spending my earnings, I've adapted to accept the cookie cutter pleasantries offered by those in the sales industry. Over the course of the past 7 or 8 months I've spent several hours reading the criticisms published by customers after the acquisition of a vehicle. I don't want to generalize or make any hasty accusations, however, there is a term for what these people feel when they write these naive, frivolous and careless comments. It's called buyer's remorse. The posts on Yelp.Com or any other similar forum have the potential to be devastating to the career and even the livelihood of whom you criticize. I think that if harsh reviews, negative feedback-and the like-were written in a private letter to whom you are upset with, then the anger you feel is far more likely to be neutralized. Indeed, there are circumstances and situations in which I understand, and even encourage, a person to warn other potential buyers of such issues as ineffective problem resolution or devious and malicious sales tactics. My salesperson, Jonny at Toyota 101, was absolutely refreshing. Easy going, efficient and direct. I went to 2 other local dealerships and almost immediately I was offered evasive answers and bizarre hypothetical scenarios. I have since reasoned that the gentlemen were trying to gauge how "serious" I was. Jonny was light-hearted but able to be serious and sincere when appropriate. I recommend visiting Jonny to anyone shopping for a Toyota and would be interested if others posted reviews about their interactions with the young man.Ciao!

Everything with this purchase was very easy. I knew what I wanted and Omar worked with me to show me what options they had within my preferences. I wanted a 2011 Prius. When I went for the test drive I was a little nervous about the differences between operating a regular car vs a hybrid. There were several different buttons on the display that definitely didn't look like something I had seen before. I am not that great with new "gadgets" and it looked overwhelming, however Omar was able to explain everything in a way that was easy to understand. Honestly, usually when I am explained the different buttons to operate a new gadget- like my iphone or new remote controls I just figure I will learn eventually with trial and error. In any case, I don't think I will have to do that with this car! I felt no pressure to rush my decision, and Omar helped me feel comfortable asking any questions I had. This is my 7th car that I have owned (with my husband). Four of these cars have been purchased at dealerships. This was the best experience I have had so far!

I went to this place shopping for a 2007 Prius. Id done a lot of research beforehand, but still was very put-off by the condescending attitude of the salesperson I had to deal with. Maybe that should have been a warning sign, but omens be damned, I wanted that Prius, even if it meant putting up with a jerk in a tie and short sleeves for a few hours. After some quite tedious back and forth over the price, we did finally settled on a price that was agreeable. Or so I thought. When it was time to deal with the finance manager and sign the contract, I was incensed to find that they were trying to sneak in a much higher interest rate than the one theyd already promised. Look, I get how this sort of thing works. If youre not paying attention, unscrupulous salespeople will milk that for all its worth. I suppose what I found most infuriating was the self-righteous tone they took when I called them on it. The sleazy general manager began shouting at me, and arguing that I was the one at fault! I really dont know how else to characterize the people I had to deal with, other than as unprofessional, and downright immoral. I hope that if you do decide to shop here, youll be very, very careful, and that you have a thick-skin when it comes to people generally insulting your intelligence with games and low-balling tactics. In general, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, and dont want to leave bad reviews over every little minor annoyance. But in this instance, I really feel morally obligated to share my very poor experience with everyone else. If I hadnt been paying attention the entire time, the general manager of this dealership would have happily jobbed me out of a few extra thousand bucks. In short, if you want to be treated like an idiot and dont mind being ripped off, by all means, give this place a shot. Otherwise, I would strongly recommend Fremont Toyota, where there was a refreshing lack of sleaziness and I was able to get a better deal in half the time I wasted at this place.

Salesman Al Lazo of Toyota 101 in Redwood City is a Magician:Quoted me on a Camry XLE for $100 over invoice less $750 "rebate". My first impression on this was Invoice + $100 + tax, fees, and license LESS $750 rebate. Actual Amount paid: Invoice + $100 + $750 + Tax/License Fees - $750. Translation: Toyota 101 (thanks Christina Cortez, the finance manager) said they have the $750 rebate. But they have to add it to the original price first before deducting it after tax/license.As a result, there really is no discount/rebate. It's like paying the orig Price + Rebate amount less Rebate Amount. That MEANS NO REBATE.The manager told me they do that with all the customers. This means they can also do this to you. So STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. If you ever consider buying here, get a quote or the "out the door price" in writing first. Better yet, check with other dealers first. I learned a very difficult lesson with this dealership..Also, Christina Cortez tried to sell me a 5year extended warranty. Does anyone ever needed an extended warranty on a Toyota? I don't get it. The name itself is the guarantee that the car will last a long time.
