Reliable car, great price point, never had any big issues. It does consume quite a bit of oil in between oil changes so I add a few quarts here and there but no other real problems. I took several long road trips in this car and always felt safe. The only complaint I have is that there is a HUGE blind spot on the passenger side so you really have to turn your head and look, you cannot rely on the side view mirror.

Decent little car but overpriced.

I bought this car about a year and a half ago, totally in love with it at first. Good power band, predictable and quick for a car of this class. Right off the bat I replaced the suspension and did a modest 1/8th drop w/ coils, short shifter and a cold air intake. Modest modifications. The engine sounds really nice! But still, after you hit 60mph the power just seems to vanish. It pulls pretty hard off the line, but after 60mph (more accurately 3rd gear) the power dissipates and it's simply disappointing. The Pros: Looks pretty nice, super easy to modify, plenty of parts to choose from, comfy (for the price), stereo is decent, and it handles surprisingly well at high speeds going into corners. Some people seem to have issues with reliability, I've had no such complaint. I have yet to get a single check engine light short of my gas cap failing (OH NO NOT $5!). Sunroof works great, windows work great, plenty of trunk space and room for two passengers in the rear. AC works well enough, heater is nearly too hot. Cons: There's a lot.... For starters, the blue and white instrument cluster is REALLY IRRITATING. The highbeam indicator is so bright at night, I had to apply duct tape over it because it affected my vision at night. The blue you can dim, but what a dull choice for the dash. Turn signals are blinding, cruise control light is blinding, everything on that cluster impairs vision at night. Then in the day, you cant see it! It's the most hilarious thing, at night you're blinded, during the day you have to squint to see your speed. Bummer. At high RPM, the engine sounds awesome. Low RPM, it nearly sounds broken. There's this ever present noise that all Toyota's I've owned make, but this one is particularly annoying. As you accellerate you can hear the drive train slowly getting louder and increasing in pitch. At first I liked it, it rather sounded like a go-kart, but now it's frustrating. The standard manual stick shift had the longest throw I've ever seen. It was really annoying. I'd miss gears because the throw was so damn far. It was almost mandatory to install the TRD short shifter. Front left speaker broke nearly immediately for reasons unknown. The wire harnesses for my taillights literally lit on fire and required a $500 replacement. Gas mileage is worse than my Honda Prelude SH's, which was 6 years older, weighed almost 500lbs more AND put out about 40 more bhp. 26 highway and 19 city? What? That's even when you reeeeaaallly baby the throttle. For a 4-cyl coupe w/ 160bhp, there's no reason for that at all. Weighs about as much as an aircraft carrier for it's size. As I stated in the short review, the car is quick off the line (by quick I mean 6.9 second 0-60 w/ the short shifter), but super slow and lame after ~60mph. Fourth gear is a joke. Made worse by the fact that while cruising in 5th at 70MPH on the highway, the car is revved to 3.5K RPM. Which is simply goofy for a car that has no pull in 4th and 5th gear. EVERYTHING RATTLES! The interior door plastic rattles. Windows rattle. Rear windshield rattles. Dash rattles. All of the things in this car rattle. The build quality in this car is simply atrocious. For a car that costs this much money, what the [non-permissible content removed] My old 87 Celica GT had a million times better interior quality, and I bought it for $1k! They used the cheapest plastic I've ever seen in a car. So much so that the plastic warped, so it's not even or flush on the window after 1k miles. [non-permissible content removed] Honestly, the plastic of a Fisher-Price buggy has better plastic quality. The mesh of the seats (the option that I have, cant speak for cloth/leather) is comfy and easy to clean, but foul to the touch. Feels cheap like everything else. When I bought the car the clutch was too stiff, now it's loose and unpredictable. Sometimes I can depress it half way and shift, other times it decides that I cant. Really confusing. At 115K miles the starter, ignition system and distributor cap failed simultaneously. $6k down the hole. I need to replace the spark plugs way more frequently than I should (nearly every 1K miles, probably related to the dead ignition system). THE SINGLE MOST ANNOYING THING YOU WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER WHEN DRIVING THIS CAR: It's a Corolla with an aluminum block. Still a corolla. The motor just isnt special at all. Cams are small. Transmission is weak. Not enough power etc. But occasionally you'll be driving and remember "I could have saved $4k if I just bought a Corolla, and gotten the same effect". Except, somehow, even the corollas have better build quality than the Scion tC. Unless you like boring overpriced cars that have no power, suck gas like an SUV, but look nice. Go buy a Corolla. Their cheaper, more reliable, just as fast, more comfortable, get way better mileage and dont disappoint because you never expect anything out of corollas ;)

Every plastic piece in the interior that can snap has. And of course the exterior rear lift/license plate cover has too. Also cracked lower front cladding when almost new just by tapping a curb. Very comfortable seats, even in the back. Great ergonomics, instrumentation, and electronics for 2006. Audio quite good. Noise is completely tire related - originals and Goodyears were terrible. Michelin Pilots are great. In town mileage is terrible - ~17 at best. Have gotten 30 on long trips. Mechanicals quality are terrible: have replaced - brakes and rotors x2, tires x3, clutch, And now needs a new transmission (bearings and shifter linkage) at 79K. Would NEVER buy another Scion or Toyota ever, despite everyone I know who has one feeling the opposite. Have had a Nissan and 2 Hondas and will be going back to them.

The car is really comfortable up front and at the back, except in the middle. The steering feels great but the ride is stiff. Still, that is great for higher speeds. Peppy engine and tranny with 167000 miles still responds beautifully. Everything seems to fit nicely. The mpg is not great could be better.

I bought this car brand-spanking new- I built it on the website and then waited 4 months for my customized tc to be delivered to me straight off the boat. It never got more than about 20 mpg city at best. The trunk/hatchback handle/plate broke off just like everyone else's. The a/c went out at 45k miles. Other than that, this car was reliable & easy to maintain for the first 90k. I've kept up with all the scheduled maintenance plus have done extras. After 90k, everything went to s***! The clutch and both cylinders went out, one of the motor mounts broke. It only has 97k currently, and I still need to put at least $3k of work into it to get it back to decent operating condition. Buyer beware!

We bought a 2006 Scion tc 6 months ago. It had 50,000 miles on it so we thought it would be a good dependable car for us. First off the gas mileage is horrible for a car this size. We have gotten 26 at best averaging 24. The seats are not comfortable on long trips. We have had several check engine lights come on where the mechanic could find nothing wrong. Last night my wife was driving it home and noticed smoke billowing out from under the hood. We took it to a mechanic and found out that it needs a new motor because of a common problem with the head and block. The price tag to fix this is over $6000. This is a common issue that I found out Toyota refuses to recall and take care of.

I bought my car new in 2006 with 20 miles on it. I now have put 170,000 miles on it and the only issue I have had is the trunk handle breaking, which is a very common problem. Other than that it has run perfectly and not cost me an extra penny beyond standard maintenance. I'm going to keep driving it until the tires fall off which probably won't be for awhile. I certainly have gotten my money out of this car.

Bought my 06 tC in may 2006 with 53 miles on it, now up to 210,000+ miles. No major issues what so ever. I still have the original car battery, which is impressive. I did have to add some distilled water into it after 6 years, no big feat there. I have a short RAM intake, Borla axle back exhaust, which after adding bumped my MPG to about 31-33 hwy. Most of my driving is hwy, my daily commute is 60 mi each way. and I drive frequently from San Diego to Sacramento, roughly 550 mi each way. The tC is comfortable enough to drive the whole way with no problems. I'm 5'10". Very easy to maintain. Easy access to the oil filter, I always check the placement of that on cars before buying.

Fun car but NOT worth it! READ.

After one year of purchase I am selling for another Honda. My accord was totaled so I bought this. Bad mistake. This car is built very cheap and if you look hard enough you will very clearly see it. Driving it overtime you will see many things you hate. The moon-roof whistles so loud and there is no fix, embarrassing to have friends point out how annoying it is. But the worst thing yet is the MPG. averages between 22-26 and that's it! The rating is 19mpg for city! Just awful. Seriously look into another car before buying. Just test drive a Honda and you will immediately notice how bad the TC quality is.

I got my Scion last year and I was honestly pretty proud. However under all the hood there's a horrible secret that Toyota has been hiding. After 80,000 there is a serious coolant leak issue where the threads of the block weaken around the gaskets. It's caused by normal wear and tear and is a prominent scion issue that comes with a minimum $2,000-$3,000 dollar price tag! Toyota refuses to take any responsibility with the issue and refuses to recall Scions BUT they did do recalls on Camrys for the exact same issue... It's a shame that such a nice car has to come to such a disappointing end and Toyota simply ignores the problem.

Racked up 112,000 mile on my '06 tC, and never had 1 mechanical issue with it! I replaced the clutch after 80,000 miles, and that's it. Truth be told, this is a fun little car to drive and I beat on mine quite a bit. The reason for my review is, I was weary about Scion, because they were new. I bought it because it's a Toyota. Since they had done away with their sporty cars, I took my chances on this. I'm so glad I did. It was maintained with proper flushes, oil changes, tires and brakes, and never had gave me any mechanical issues.

Great road handling small sport car. If you do not enjoy sport cars do not buy this car. Interior is small, only 2 doors and hard to get people in the back seat. This car is good for two people to drive around town. My doughter currently drives this car but she now is 22 and wants a small SUV. I might keep it for the weekend driving in SOCAL.

We bought our silver TC in March 06 brand new. I will just list the pros then cons. Pros are it is fun and sporty to drive. It is a cheap sports car that is good on gas and reliable. We have replaced only the brakes thus far and normal maintenance. It currently has 120K miles. It is of average comfort. The cons are it is cheaply made. Any little thing that has touched it has left a dent. Also the paint on the side mirrors started chipping off in fall of 2007. The paint on the body is fine but the paint on the side mirrors is now 50 % gone. The rear handle to the hatchback broke completely off after 4 yrs. The sunroof button has to be tapped now to close the sunroof completely. Good overall.

I've had it for 5+ years and it was my 1st big purchase after college. It's been good but I've had similar problems as some of the other posts written. Biggest problem was water pump going out at 67k, luckly it didn't heat and part was inexpensive. read trunk latch broke off, sunroof doesn't close all the way unless I hold down the wind blocker. Front seats don't go back to original position when accessing the back seat. Fun to drive tho and fairly roomy for a coupe, great on gas (avg 27 mpgs for me). The car also comes with good options in a standard package and has retained its value. Which is good cuz I'm ready to move on from coupes, tired of 2 doors and poor vision in coupes.

has been a great car for me for the past 5 years. It has 75k on it and i've only changed the breaks & tires once. never had any pricey maintenance problems or any engine problems! my car has only had some weird fix-it-yourself issues like the windshield molding coming off (glued that back on), sunroof not closing (i tap it instead of pressing it down and it closes), driver's seat chair catching on track (used melted chapstick to fix), and the hatch release piece almost breaking off (bolted extra bolts in the interior to keep it on). But i can't express how RELIABLE and LOW COST this cars been. i wish it had a sportier suspension tho! also, looks like a teen car and i'm in my late 20s!

Purchased my Scion tC brand new for $15,900 (manual transmission)...an outstanding value for that price. Only thing I added was the rear wing, aluminum shift knob and the aluminum pedal covers. Decent styling in and out, good on gas, fun to drive and very reliable. Seating was comfortable for a long drive and the performance was decent for an economy-priced car. Where the economy-priced traits showed up were in interior noise, squeaks and rattles and poor paint quality--at least with the dark purple paint. Perhaps the lighter colors (i.e. white or silver) would wear better.

I bought this car new in July of 2006. It's been a nice little car for me. I opted for the manual as a personal preference. I also opted for the iPod stereo upgrade, was not standard in this model year. It's been a great little car with the exception of a few items. The rear hatch latch came completely off on this car just before the 30k mile warranty was up and the dealer replaced it. The struts for said hatch have worn out and I had to buy new ones, I opted for ordering these from out of state due to cost. Keep in mind that I open the hatch at least 2 times a day 5 days a week for the last 4 years. Other then these two items mechanically the car has been great. Brakes/Rotors replaced once.

I have had this car from 77 miles to 57000 miles and I have been trying to get rid of it since 5000 miles. I must admit the car is fun to drive at times but compared to 75% of the other cars on the road its not much power under the hood. The only time I feel like its fast is when I am the only car on the road. The gas mileage stinks, I get 265 out of a full tank and the dealership tells me its because of "winter" gas in the winter and "summer" gas in the summer. The worst part is that loud whistling from the sunroof that toyota refuses to look at unless I pay them. Its time for me to move on.

Ok here is the deal. I always wanted a fast sporty car, which this car is. However it is basically a toy. It is kind of like the old honda civics that were made to play with. Parts easily pop off and on for accessorizing, which is lots of fun. The trunk is poorly made, if you live in New England like I do, and it snows it is very difficult to lift the trunk, so you need to clean all the snow off before even trying. Sometimes the trunk ( with no snow on it ) closes by itself and hits you right in the head. The handle to the trunk pops right off and unless you have package tape it will dangle and eventually fall off. Tires are thin and don't last too long, head room, not good for tall people.

We bought our tC new. We do love it but there are some build quality issues that need to be dealt with. The back panel, at the trunk release, broke off. The C-pillar air bag covers have popped off. The vent fan squeals and sometimes has stopped (that's fun in the blazing summer). Our breaks needed to be replaced at 33k miles and we don't drive hard or jam our foot into them. The tires are low profile and develop breaks in the sidewall radials easily if a hole or other bump is hit just right. The tires are also expensive and don't gain traction well on wet pavement and easily break loose. With continued use the seats don't stay in place when slid forward when accessing the back seat.

The paint chips and scratches with ease. The are plenty of rattles. Many of the interior plastic covers( such as seatbelt bolts) have cracked. The optional leather seats are cracking ( garage parked). The sun roof freezes at on occasion. When I hit a small bump and brake, the brakes "skip" and make a metallic noise. Have complained to the dealer over the years. They say it is "normal"; however, a delay in braking is not "normal."The rotors started rusting on the first year.

I bought my 2006 tc brand new. At first I loved it because of all the options. You really can't get as many for the price. The dual sunroof was really neat, steering wheel controls were nice. Good price and good deal, but too much plastic everywhere. Car is very cookie cutter. The weird cover over the radio always seemed annoying. I got plenty of looks and comments, but all from 16 year old kids when getting my car washed. Had to get rid of it and get an "adult" car. Nice, quick, but VERY TINY little car. Don't expect anyone to get in the back seat. Perfect for a teen, which is what Scion targets anyway...my bad...

I have owned this car for a little less than a year. My first problem was when I was driving it home from the dealership. I had opened and closed the sunroof at the dealership and driving home it was making a terrible loud sound. I found out the rubber between the sunroof and windshield was loose. Got that glued back down and now it's fine. My only other real problem is that it's a terrible in the snow! I live in South Dakota and this car is the worst car I have ever driven in the winter!

I purchased it on my birthday as a gift to me! This was my first big car purchase. It had 40,000 mi on it and I loved the color, speed, drive and all. I absolutely loved my car! But after having it for not even two years the motor fails! Its only has 68,000 miles on it and it has a blown head gasket and a leaky water pump! Yea I know that's the same thing I said! A Toyota mechanic told me that there was nothing that I could have done to stop this from preventing because it is a manufacture problem! My car went thru the "good will" warranty review and got declined because I have never previously owned a Toyota, Lexus or scion and because I dont get dealership services!

3 and half years and 41,000 miles later the car still runs like the day I drove it off the lot. Since I just recently paid it off, I decided to buy and install the TRD Supercharger to renew my overall interest in the car. This upgrade brings my performance rating from a 7.0 to a 9.5 (rounded to 10). The charger is smooth and quiet and makes 2nd through 5th gear a blast. The manual gearbox is fun once you become acquainted with the clutch. The car just looks gorgeous with ground effects and spoiler. I loved my tC before the forced induction but now we're on a whole new level.

I purchased my car brand new in 10/06. It's been almost 2 years and I have over 60k miles on it. I drive it mostly on the highway and I don't care for the amount of noise from the sunroof (event when its closed). I have also had a problem with the molding between the windshield and the sunroof. It has blown off twice! The drivers seat broke about a month after I had the vehicle and the dealership had to replace the entire thing! My tc is great in any driving condition and I love the speed I get from it. I always feel safe driving it and I love the way it handles! Except for the few minor things I absolutely love the car! I just wish it came with a better warranty.

I have had my tC a little over a year and have had no problems out of it whatsoever. It is still very fun to drive, even after having it a year. It is pretty spacious for a two-door car, but I will stick to four-doors from now on. It is a smooth, comfortable ride with no rattling or shaking. I just calculated my MPG and got about 28 city, 31 hwy, which is good but could be better for a small car. The sound system is great and the pioneer CD player and speakers are very high quality. The road noise is relatively quiet for having low- profile tires. Despite its sporty look, the steering is not very nimble. Overall, I have enjoyed my car, but it could definitely use some improvement.

I absolutely LOVE this car! I am having to sell mine because my husband and I have another baby on the way and having a 2 door isn't practical. When I was buying a car it was between the acura two door car and the scion. The scion tC won because it is so roomy even for such a little car. The interior looks amazing and it is so easy to clean. It has great pick up and it is so much fun to drive. Even my 52 year old dad loves to drive this car. Awesome little car!

I bought this car for 2 reasons. #1 interior shape (hatchback) for a 3 subwoofer horn loaded configuration and #2 price since I was putting $7K into the sound system. 2000 W into 2x10" + 1x15" sub with 9 cabin speakers custom door pods and Morel dome/MB Quart Premium speakers - awesome sound quality. Professionally installed by the owner of Audio North West, the sound system is Incredible (and I have a lot of audio stuff for comparison). A side benefit is the ride. Hard corners a bit soft but good controlled drift w/e-brake, will install sport suspension. Minor tuning mods, upgrading to 18" XXR rims and Potenza tires this week. AWESOME platform for REAL car audio and it has enough kick - FUN

June 22, 2008 Let me preface my remarks by clearly indicating that I am very high on Toyota and at my age cannot remember how many Corollas and Camrys I have owned and enjoyed as being totally reliable and satisfying in every aspect of design and and engineering. The chronicle of events with my Scion purchase I think was unique to say the least. I really only had one solitary reason for giving it away after about 1 year of driving it and I am suggesting that the logic was personal and not applicable to all Scion drivers I never sat in the car before purchase. I am a man who is 190 lbs and wears a 44 Suit. Nobody has ever suggested a need for weight loss. That means I need a lot of room. jayadler1

I've owned this car for about 2 and half years now. I absolutely love it! The backseat is roomier than my friend's Corolla, the interior and exterior design is refreshing and cute, and the ride is unbelievably smooth and quiet. I still get second glances at my car- -and it's over two years old! I've never had a single problem out of it. The features that are found on the TC are amazing and unrivaled by any other small car (Satellite interface, plenty of aux. ports, 17" rims, power side mirrors, turn signal on side mirrors, etc). The car has some serious pep, the air conditioning works like a charm, and the handling is great! Even the gas mileage is pretty darn decent! Such a great lil car!

I have owned this car for two years now and I am ready to write a review. The low sloping roof reminds me of the custom 1950s mercs. The monster sunroofs add to the attitude. As far as performance goes, I have no complaints. The manual transmission model comes with a 4:20 final gear ratio. (them's drag racing gears). The 5 speed can take a little bit to get used to with the electronic throttle control, but once you get it figured out you will own the road. To sum it up, this is the best car I have ever owned. If this car were $5,000 more, I would pay it and still be just as content. As far as fuel economy goes.I have averaged 40 mpg on long trips at 65 mph. Much better than advertised.

I searched for three months through all the newspaper adds, eBay, dealerships, and craigslist for this vehicle. In my findings I found that there are a lot with salvaged titles or accidents with the TC. Most of these accidents are from a front-end collision. Makes me wonder if there is an issue with its braking system. Either way, I don’t know enough about cars to research the idea. I've had this car for just over three weeks, I bought it at a Toyota dealer with 7,500 on it. I traded in a 02 Pontiac Grand Am GT in on this car, and do not regret it at all. This car picks up as fast if not faster than my old car(which had 175 HP), gets better gas mileage, and handles better. I've gotten a lot of compliments on the car already-and have taken it on a road trip (the seats were very comfortable for a longer drive). I wanted a car that I would be able to keep for at least 3 years without getting sick of it-I think that I made a great choice.

I have had my tC until last week when it got wrecked at a car wash. I was so sad to see my car getting totaled right in front of my eyes. Anyways, this car has been an awesome experience and gave me lots and lots of fun while driving it. It had good power and maintained a decent fuel effeciency. It also added in a lot of standard features which is impossible to be equipped at the price with any other makes. Finally, it looks great inside and out and hasn't caused a single problem for over two years. Toyota has done a hell of a job.

This Scion was my first car. All I can say is wow, this car is amazing. I literally can't keep myself out of it, and all I want to do is drive it. Great speed and pickup, as well as good fuel economy. It looks great including the standard 17'' rims. The only thing I don't really like concerning the tC is the steering wheel and the sound system. The steering wheel is relatively small, which causes a larger turning radius.

My girlfriend and I financed a tC last year, and it rides very cool. I'm not much of a manual driver, so for me it's a great car. I'm also just under 6'6" and it has a lot more room behind the wheel than I thought it would. It gets great mileage, has a decent sound system (which we upgraded), and already has an exterior look that only requires ground effects for that street racing look. However, I wouldn't recommend factory upgrades for the car. Other racing dealers are way cheaper that Scion. Start off adding an Injen Cold Air Intake, and any catback exhaust for fun. Enjoy the ride

I love my tC. It's the first car I bought for myself (my dad bought me a Wrangler and an F150 before that). I wanted a car with good gas mileage without looking like a Geo. The tC gives me around 24-28 mpg which is above average, but not the best. What catches you off guard with the tC is the speed. This car likes to go fast, but it's engine isn't abnoxiously loud when you hit speeds in excess of 100 mph. It's 0-60 isn't anything to brag about, but Toyota makes a supercharger for the tC if you want to tweak the engine.

I purchased my Scion tC to replace my 98 Nissan 200sx-ser which was a fabulous car. I love the exterior styling, handling, comfort, and overall feel of the car. My biggest dissapointment is in the build quality. I've owned many Japanese cars over the years from Honda, Mazda, and Nissan without any problems; this is my first new Toyota purchase and I fully expected legendary Toyota quality on this car. I haven't gotten it. The paint is very delicate, scratching very easily. Interior quality is fair at best, my driver's seat is showing a lot of wear, and the interior panels get scratched very easily. I'm not rough on cars at all and this one is holding up badly at only 18 months old.

My tC replaced an 03' Lexus GS 300 and so far has done so without regret. It's standard equipment package, including the more than adequate 160 hp, 163 lb.-ft. 2.4L VVTI engine leaves little room for any "wish you had's" while enjoying the drive. The tC's styling separates the car from it's competitors by offering clean lines and a smart simplicity that turns head's. Other than getting slightly bellow "excellent" fuel economy and a sound system that's so poor it's laughable the Scion tC provided me great value for my dollar as well as that warm feeling we all get when driving something that looks as good as it gets. Do the research and test drives with it's competition and you'll agree.

Before I bought the \tC I researched and test drove the Civic, RSX, and Eclipse. The tC offers the most interior room and most back seat comfort by far. It doesn’t handle at all like a sports car, but the ride is smooth, its acceleration is peppy and its handling is accurate. I bought the iPod compatible radio which is fun, but the sound quality is greatly lacking. The seats are very comfortable for a small person and so far it has handled quite nicely in the snow!

It's a very affordable new car with excellent fuel economy. Its sleek, yet simple design is very captivating just knowing that how you buy it stock is still satisfying because you know people"s heads turn when they see this car driving through the city. Also knowing that the amount of customization is practically endless. It is a wonderful feeling because you can have a one of a kind vehicle. The Pros: 1. A great engine, 2.4L with 160hp. It has amazing pickup and good speed. 2. Tons of standard options and a great roof. 3. A great price on a vehicle that doesn't depreciate quickly. 4. Good enough fuel economy for a fast car. Cons: 1. The car's wheels spin during initial start, a better differential is needed. This same issue creates an uncomfortable driving experience in turns and in the rain. 2. There is some noise in the hatchback 3. I wish the steering audio controls were better 4. I am 6 feet 2 inches tall. I wish the seat's head rest was better. 5. I really wanted to get a yellow or red color but the best sporty one that I have seen is the white.

Overall the Scion tC is a good car, although it is not the best car for me. At first I loved everything about the car but the more I used it the more I realized how little space was actually available in it. It has a great 4-cylinder engine that is quicker than you would expect. The ride is a little rough and the seats are not very comfortable. However, the interior visually is very appealing. One note: I got the Scion Sirius installation when I bought the car--big mistake! The radio flashed the antenna and neither the dealer or Scion could help. I eventually I re-routed the antenna and installed a plug and play Sirius tuner and quit using the Scion installed one.

After owning the Scion tC for over a year I think that this car is an awesome car to get and is the best car for the price range it is in. I have many suggested improvements, but the car is in my opinion much better than the Civic (my brother owns one and I have driven it in comparison) or any other car in the market. My main suggestion is that if you are getting a manual transmission to be aware that a new set of tires would be a great investment due to its ability to peel out easily.

When looking for a new car, I had a little list of things that I was looking for 1) Looks 2) Reliability 3) Good gas mileage 4) Fun to drive. The car that always seemed to stand out was the Scion tC. What put the tC over the top for me was the Release Series 2.0. The color is awesome and the alcantara seats are just as great. Mechanically, the car is solid. It's definitely not a sports car, but drives extremely smoothly and quiet. Its handling is OK, but accurate. There is a lot more room on the inside than it looks. The back seats have tons of leg and hip room, but the head room is a little lacking. This is a great daily driver that gives you what you need and some stuff you want without costing a ton. If you see many tCs on the road, it's for a reason.

I'm pretty happy with my decision to buy a tC. It's great fun to drive, handles well, and I adore its looks. I got a rear spoiler, which improves its looks even more. I drive to work every day, and living in a city a coupe comes handy. Of course it could use a little more torque or hp (well, most cars could), but I would like to point out that I often find myself making turns on the highway at over 60 mph. It took me a while to get used to the gearbox (revving up to higher rms makes the gear shifts much smoother). And did I mention the gorgeous sunroof/moonroof?

The car handles very well and while it isn't race ready it moves very well. I am not sure I would buy this in an automatic but I sure like the 5-speed. All around this is a nice car but...its reliability is poor! An iPod plugged in to the center console (designed and factory installed by Toyota) caught fire and caused over $8,000 worth of repairs NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. Toyota blamed it on the iPod which miraculously STILL WORKS! We were told that Toyota had never had any problems with this. My thoughts...there is ALWAYS A FIRST ONE! We will never buy another Toyota.

It's average in normal heat, but not good at all in extreme heat.

Since I saw this vehicle I fell in love with it. At first I found the shifting to be quite smooth, but since I changed the shifter it has a "racer" feeling. Don't get me wrong, I don't street race, I'm truly against it and I work with one association against it. The car feels nimble enough to take on any vehicle, yet balanced enough to be comfortable on the road. If you want an economic car, for under $20,000 and still be able to enjoy going to the track, then this is your car. Don't believe me? Go try one now.

When I needed a new car, I checked Honda, Mazda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi. My grown son said check out Scion. I had not heard of it. Well, we took it out for a test drive and I was sold. When I test drive, I take my son along and have him drive while I sit in the back seat. If I like a car sitting in the back seat, I know I will like it sitting in the front seat. A year later, I still enjoy driving my Scion so much. My son said that if I decide to get rid of it (ha ha) he gets first right over his three sisters. The price is incredible for all the features you get. One complaint - stop marketing to young people - old people love it too! Thank you Scion! Baby Boomer.

Even after 15 months of ownership, this car never fails to please. How many cars are this versatile, inexpensive, fun to drive, and gorgeous to look at? The tC is both quick and fuel efficient (I get 28 mpg city). It handles beautifully (even in snow) and is comfortable - my kids love the reclining back seats! With the seats down, the tC functions like a truck, I've hauled an 8 ft. Christmas tree, surfboards, bicycles, you name it! There's plenty of leg room, and the double glass roof visually expands the interior. This car delivers performance, practicality, and style equal to the snob-appeal brands at almost half the price. I've driven everything from a Mercedes to an RX-7 and this car tops them all.

I've had my tC for a little over a year, now, and I'm still in love with it. I first saw the tC in a commercial and I've loved it from the very beginning. It has an amazing exterior look and awesome customization features for the exterior and interior. I customized my tC with exactly what I wanted in a car (flint mica color, spoiler, fog lights, all- weather floor mats, interior LED lights, cargo net), not to mention the already standard features (sun/moonroof, great sound system, etc). It drives/handles perfectly and I could not ask for more in a car. I would recommend this car for anyone! It's fun to drive and I give it two thumbs way up!

My wife started out wanting a Honda Civic. She test drove a Civic and then we visited the Toyota dealership where she test drove the Scion tC. We bought it based on good looks, value, and its much quieter ride than the Civic. She has driven the car since 5/06 with no problems. The car is reliable (typical Toyota), comfortable, good on gas and always gets a second glance. The Scion's automatic transmission shifts flawlessly and has good power from the time tested Camry 4-cyl engine. I highly recommend a test drive, you'll buy one too.

I really enjoy the Scion tC. I have had it for six months and bought it for my teenage daughter originally. Now, we're talking about buying her another one, because I just can't give it up. We were leasing an Infiniti G35, and I would have never dreamed that I would like something so much for less than $20,000 (and that was after adding some stuff like a TRD muffler, spoiler, rear, side-curtain airbags, and all-weather mats). It was time to return the G35 and get something else, but I think I'll just stick with the tC. It's a lot of fun. The only drawback is the dashboard interior - it looks cheap, like plastic. I have not had any problems with rattling or noise like I have read sometimes. This car is lots of fun.

I was initially looking at a different vehicle, someone suggested the Scion to me as an economical car. I am so glad they did, I love the tC - the look, the color (Black Cherry), the price, and the great fuel economy. I highly recommend this vehicle to anyone looking, it's a sporty looking car, I love the sun/moon roofs, it gives a great ride and has great pickup for a 4 cylinder!

This car is wonderful. It is fast, turns heads, and gets pretty good gas mileage for such a sporty car. I previously drove a Honda Civic and this just blows the doors off in comparison. In its price range, it is really untouchable. I spent a great deal of time comparing cars and was, at first, wary because I did not have much familiarity with the brand. Any trepidation I had was completely unfounded. My experience at the dealership was straightforward and low pressure. I strongly recommend that any person looking for a great looking and affordable car that handles well give the Scion tC some serious consideration.

I am an auto/truck wholesale buyer by profession and I find the tC to be well worth the money! Toyota needs to add leather seats and Pearl White paint to their new models to further cut the competion down. The 2.4 Camry 4-cylinder motor delivers outstanding performance.

I love this car. Is it very fast, I have found that it goes almost as fast (in the 0-60 and highest speed) as a Porsche. Yeah. It is pretty nimble and trust me, I push it. They are hot cars and totally blow the Hyundai Tiburon and Honda Civic out of the water for how cheap they are. The all-glass roofs rock my face off. And you can upgrade almost everything which is nice. It needs more power though or at least it needs more rumble.

I've put 13,000 miles on my tC now in 6 months. I've added the TRD supercharger to it and have driven on it for 7,000 miles. The car is a blast to drive. The power output with the supercharger is much higher than what TRD claimed (I've had my car tested). The stock tires are quite crappy. You'll definitely need to replace them before too long. The supercharger is quiet and very reliable. The power output is good, yet not too much. The TRD supercharger is warrantied with the rest of my powertrain, so I feel comfortable about the extra power boost. If you're going to get the supercharger installed by a dealer, though, make sure they have done the installation before. This is the best car I've owned.

The Scion tC is great looking and performs well, the only thing I dislike about it is the fuel economy. When you run the car at anything lower than 2,000 rpm it dosen't have enough power to pull, but if you push it to 3,000 rpm you waste fuel very fast. It is well built though. Other than those few issues the car is wonderfull, I would have expected foreign tire son on the car like Toyo or Yokohama since it is Japanese. I will be adding a turbo to the car to help me go faster and maybe an ECU chip to replace the factory one. I race though and expect more, but for a daily driver, this car is good.

I researched several cars prior to getting a 2006 Scion tC. I test drove a 2006 Mustang and found the seats to still be uncomfortable, although an improvement over my 1997 model. I also test drove a 2006 Acura RSX and found that the tC handled better, is quieter, more comfortable to sit in, and cost several thousand less than a comparably equipped model. My only reservation about buying a tC was the age group Toyota targeted - I'm old enough to be their father! I bought the tC anyway. It's the Special Edition 2, and it turns heads. The only thing I added is tinted windows. It's fun to drive, hugs the road, handles better on wet roads than my old Mustang did, and I have fewer stops at the gas station.

I hit another car doing 45 mph and aside from being knocked unconcious from the airbags for about 15 min, I got only one minor scrach from the knee airbag as my only injury. I actually opened the door and walked away with no help at all. I give this car GREAT marks on saftey and performance and I'm about to get another to replace my toatled one. As for the people that talk bout gas, IT'S A SPORTS CAR! I averaged 30 mpg and NEVER under 28. This is the BEST car for the money. I love the car!

Scion cars will be the next Lexus, or the new Mercedes for the years to come, but you wont have to pay an arm and a leg for the car of your dreams. Scion tCs are deffinetly eye catching, and are awesome to drive. I plan on getting another tC soon but the next one will be manual and supercharged. The tC is a great car! I've owned it for one year and I love it. It is fun to drive and peppy. My freinds and co-workers all want to drive it. It has only one minor problem which is a squeek under the dash below the steering column at times. I bought this car to commute to work and enjoy the ride, even in traffic. It has a great stance and looks somewhat like a BMW. What you get for the money in this car cannot be beat by any manufacurer. It will last because it's a Toyota. A co- worker has tried to by a used one but can't find one except for $2,000 more than what I paid new. That should speak volumes about the resale value. I highly recommend this car.

I just hit 10,000 miles after six months of driving everyday. The tC is a great car, fun to drive, averaging 27-28 miles per gallon, or 350 miles per tank. Did I mention that it is fun to drive? It offers more room than most two door sport cars. My biggest complaint is that it rattles. First the radio (dealer fixed it) now behind my head in the head liner area. It is going to the shop this week. The iPod radio is great. I have no regrets.

I've driven a '98 Corolla for the past 7 years and the occasional Camry drive, so it was difficult to push me out of the Toyota family. When I went to buy a new car I narrowed it down to the under $22,000 range because I didn't want to spend THAT MUCH on a car, though I probably can easily. I ended up test driving the '06 Impreza, and this car and it was quite easy. The Civic was another option and a relative had recently bought one so I got to play with that a bit. But it was really easy to decide. The tC has way more features, the looks, and the Toyota Camry reliability in it for the same price.

This is a very nice car. I considered 5 different cars with gas mileage and overall performance my main criteria. After all the test drives and comparisons, the tC was the standout choice for standard options and its powerful Camry engine. It is just a few dollars more than the base 2 door Civic and you get so much more. It provides a nice balance of performance and gas mileage for a bargain price.

This car is unbeatable for the number of standard features at it's price point. The no-haggle "pure pricing" of the car was a big plus. I passed on all the dealer options except the side curtain airbags and iPod upgrade (which is worth the extra $ IMO). The stock radio is sufficient. This car has a comfortable and uncomplicated interior design. I like the convenience of having a hatchback. Everyone who has sat in back says the back seats are very comfortable. While I've read other reviews complaining about blind spots, I haven't found it to be a problem. The ride is comfortable and the engine is plenty peppy enough for me. It has good handling and a good turning radius

I drove nearly 900 miles in one day. The seat adjustments are excellent, especially when you consider that I believe the seats are more comfortable than those in my BMW M3. I got mine with a pedestal spoiler and Borla cat back exhaust. I love it. The tC is a great car in a lot of ways. The standard audio system is exceptional.

I first went to test drive the tC, after I did, that was all I needed. I got a good deal well within my budget. If I want very good mileage it is imperative I was premium gasline, which is pricey these days. The handling, the features, and every design feature this car has is great, I love it, I'm glad I got it.

Lets preface this by saying the following: I fit in my Scion. A footnote on that: I'm 6' 6", and I am quite comfortable, which would not be possible without the seat height adjustment and angle adjustment. Moving on, I've been a Jeep man all my life (still have a Wrangler for mudding) and this is the first small car I've ever owned. Its fun to drive, its got great quality parts, and I got more for my money than I could have gotten on a Honda Civic, which I almost bought first. It is a beautiful car, when/if I ever run it into the ground, I'll be looking for another.

I'm in my late 40's and have never been one to get very excited about cars. I took a test drive just for fun in a 2006 Scion tC and instantly fell in love with the body style, handling and curves of interior. When I compared it to the Civic and Corrolla in terms of price and features the decision was hands down for the tC. I have read over 50 pages of reviews by owners and agree it is a major fun to drive. You tend to smile every time you get in it, and I am serious about that. People honestly think it is in the $25,000 - $30,000 price range. Its gas milege can be a little low though. I am averaging 25ish during the break in period but word is after 3,000 miles of break and adding a non-stock air filter 29 is possible.

First off those people begging for a windshield sun strip: It looks awful on the tC. I had the tint applied at the dealership and was glad when given the option to decline the windshield tint. I started off my car buying experience special ordering a Toyota Corolla S edition. After waiting several weeks I went back to the dealership and picked up a black Scion tC. I am very happy that I changed my mind. The decked out Corolla only had one more feature than the tC, which was leather. Thinking about it now though, I wish I had chosen the leather.

For me, an inner-city person who's travelling is 95% within the city, this is an ideal car. I choose this car due to my priorities which are: fuel efficiency, safety, and fun to drive. The tC is very fast on the acceleration, very manueverable, and quiet. This car is a beauty, the sound system makes gridlock an opportunity to enjoy good music in a good environment. Parking is never a problem due the tC's size and nimble handling. The power to weight ratio seems to be terribly high - so watch out!

Who says this is for the young generation? I'm having fun driving this thing. I'm usually the SUV type a guy but ever since the gas price started going up, I will be driving this baby spring thru fall! I feel like I'm driving in a sports car. I get an avg of 25 mpg in mixed highway / city driving. Although, once broken in...it will be better on gas. I think this car will bring out the midlife crisis in me. I'm already thinking of modifying it...uh oh! This car has a lot of torque. It will take time getting use to the 1st gear. It has a lot of wheel spin, but definitely stick with the manual tranny.

I've had my tC now for 8 months and driven it 18,000 miles. I do a wide variety of driving but on average mostly city. My mileage is usually 27+ mpg even with all city driving and winter gasoline, I'm looking forward to seeing what summer gas/highway driving will do. I took care to break the engine/transmission in right and the car seems to be rewarding me with plentiful power and good economy. I really enjoy the torque around town and the wide power band on the highway. Many times I never even downshift to pass. My average highway mileage is 28.5mpg also on winter gas. The interior is very open and roomy, the seats are comfortable, supportive, and very adaptable. I love the gauges/dash design.

I bought my Scion tC last October. I drive it every day in the city and on the highway and still feel the thrill every time I get in it. It's like you slip into it first time at the dealership, except now you know what to expect of its on road performance. I've also experienced the rattling noise and it is easy to fix. I found that the noise caused by the trunk cover's short plastic pins (on both sides) sitting and rattling in their sockets. Flip up the cover and put some soft material in the sockets, such as a piece of felt, rubber or just wrap a little (black electric) tape around the pins before you push them back in the sockets. Make it well fit and that should solve the problem.

I just recently purchased a Scion tC. It is an unbelievable car. I love the very simple interior design. I love how it drives so smoothly, gets incredible gas mileage, and how the geers shift so easily along with the clutch being so easy. The car handles great. The car is such a good deal for the price you pay. Don't let the outside fool you there inside is roomier than it looks.

The two major complaints that I have about the car are its paint quality and interior integrity. The sqeaky dash board makes my new car feel cheap. Not everyone's will sqeak, but it is a bit common for tCs to have this problem. It's a great looking car inside and out. The '06 Civic was really the only competition to me. I think the Civic Si would be a better buy if your more concerned about accleration, handling, sports feel (overall performance), but if your into size and comfort go with the tC. It has plenty of rear passenger leg/head room. The doors are too big and way too heavy. They tend to make it difficult to get out in tight parking areas. For the price wouldn't consider anything else besides tC or Civic.

I bought this car in March '06 and have had nothing but pure fun with it ever since. There are so many add-ons to enhance performance and appearance. The rear seats recline, steering wheel audio controls, sunroof, low tire pressure warning indicator, MP3 player jack, power everything. The performance is great too, 160HP anyone? 17 inch stock rims look great! Did I mention that all of this comes standard? I don't think you will find this much value / performance in any other car on the market today in its price range...

I’ve owned my tC for a few weeks now and I must say that I am amazed at what I got for my money. I’m a senior in my mid 60s and have owned a lot of cars in my day. I enjoy driving smaller cars and when I looked around at what was available the tC stood head and shoulders above anything else in its price range and even some that cost a whole lot more. Every option that I wanted, including some that I would have never considered, were included at no extra cost. I knew it was a good deal when I bought it but after driving it several hundred miles I’m even more impressed with the tC’s performance, handling and overall quality. It was well worth the wait.

The tC is a fun car to drive. Everyone who I have let drive it loves it. Also everyone loves the sound system. My only complaint comes 2 months after I bought it when the check engine light came on after sitting for 3 days while I was sick. Turns out the gas cap was loose but there is nothing that says "Check Gas Cap before taking to dealership." That sorta would have been useful and relieved stress over what was wrong.

I traded in my '03 Hyundai Tiburon for a black tC and I couldn't be happier. I drive a lot of different late model cars and pickups at my job, but this tC is the perfect balance in my eyes of performance (160 horses is plenty if you're not planning on racing anybody), looks (I get plenty of double-takes at stoplights), and most importantly, VALUE. The features that come for the $18,000 or so you pay are EXCEPTIONAL.

I had a 95 Chevy Camaro that had become very problematic and so I purchased a tC to replace it. The tC had the sporty look I wanted without a high price. The car rides very well and accelerates quickly. It was also nice to be able to customize it to make it personal and also to ensure that the additions would fit properly. The car blocks out a lot of outside noise. When I pull into my garage the sound of my dogs barking are now only a muffle. To top it off, Scion cars have been noted to be very reliable so it's great to know that this car can get me around safely. I definitely recommend this car to anyone who wants a lot of features and reliability without having to pay a fortune.

I really like the Scion tC. I average 26 miles a gallon. Also, the car is pretty quick for a 4-cylinder. I ran a 1/4 mile time of 15.6. That is pretty good for it being totally stock. I also enjoy the interior on this car. The moonroof is great. The people in the back seat even have their own moonroof. Also, the back seats recline 5 inchs, which is cool. I think that the car is totally worth the cheap price tag. I think that you could easily slap a Lexus tag on the front, and it would fit in. The stock radio in the car is also really good. There are also a ton of aftermarket parts for the tC, which is really good.

The Scion tC is a great buy for the money. The car is well built, looks great, drives well, and is loaded with standard features. The azure blue color looks great in the day and brilliant at night. I waited three long months for this color with side airbags but it was worth it. Before I got my 2006 Scion tC i drove a '96 Cavalier! What a huge difference difference! I love how smooth it drives and it's so quiet! It is my first new car, and my first purchase. I'm only 18, and I'm nervous about the payments for the next 6 years - but I know Toyota's warranty will take care of me!

I have owned a 2004 Scion xA and a 2005 scion xA RS 2.0, then I bought my 2006 Ccion tC and this car is by far the best thing I have ever owned. It's quick, stylish, and very fun to drive.

The 2006 Scion tC, simply put, is one of the best deals by far! Its standard features, being too many to elaborate, cater to everyone's needs. Talk about a bargain, this car is more affordable than most others with half the features. For people like me - who love customizing their cars, prepare to be in a state of bliss! Thanks to their "Plug and Play" design, installing most of their accessories (LED lights, fog lights, etc) takes a fraction of the time it would on most other cars. Finally to top it off, it's backed by Toyota's stellar quality and reliability! To summarize in one word - Amazing!

My Scion tC is one of the most fun cars I've driven in a long time. AND it has Toyota quality assurance. I've taken my car on a few long road trips and it handles really well in inclement weather and near-miss incidents. It's totally stress-free! I love it! Plus the way the car just grips the road, I feel like I have total control.

The steering in my Scion tC is just a bit too tight - but that is the ONLY thing to complain about. This car has plenty of power for a 4-cyl. and a great cabin design. It also has plenty of room, lots of bells and whistles, and I didn't have to sell a kidney to buy it. It really is the best value I can remember in recent years.

I went to the dealership ready to trade in my '92 Celica (one of the greatest toyotas ever made). The Celica I thought had made me a Toyota driver for life. I just couldn't do it. I saw the tC and sat in it and I loved it. Then I drove it. It was not teribly powerful, kind of peppy but not very and it handeled like I'd expect a large sedan not a small coupe. It weighs at least 500 lbs. more than it should with most of the weight up front. This car plows like no other car I've driven (plowing is not a good thing).

the 2006 Scion tC has excellent handling, performance, and styling. I hadn't driven a stick shift for more than 25 years...so I was a little apprehensive about not getting the automatic. I am glad I did now...it is very quick and smooth now that I am back in the groove. I love the tried and true 4-cyl. engine. I have no mechanical complaints so far. I am getting 25.5 MPG with 90% city driving.

Having driven a Chevy Tahoe previously, I am very satisfied with the performance and reliability of the 2006 Scion tC. I originally purchased them for two teenagers in the family, but I fell in love with it and am now driving it 80% of the time. We may have to get another one in the near future! The price of the tC is very reasonable and insurance is not excessively high. I had wanted a Ford Mustang, but decided against it. The tC may look compact but the back seat is very roomy for someone of average height. The ride is rough at times, but it gives you that sport car feel to it. It has great acceleration and braking power. The tC is fun to drive and handles well.

The Scion tC is a great car. It's agile, quick, and sporty. The rear seats have plenty of room and they recline and fold forward for more space. The standard Pioneer stereo is nice, it needs more watts though. The glass top is cool, not many cars have that. This car needs a 6-speed transmission not a 5-speed, unless you drive 55 you will not see that 30 mpg on the highway. 70 mph runs you @ 3,500 rpm. This car has lots of torque down low, and a forgiving clutch.

I got the car in late August and so far I have put on about 3,000 miles. I love everything about it from the ride quality to build quality. The panoramic roof is great for a standard feature. It looks like a BMW and drives smoothly. It's the best car and the best deal compared to the Mazda3 and Honda Civic. I have no complaints.

My 06 tC (manual trans) was adopted a few days ago. It's an amazing car with an amazing price tag. Its features were designed well. I am probably its typical target market (in my 20's in an urban setting). They nailed this car for us. I customized mine with the LED tail lights, fog lights and lip spoiler and I am pretty sure no one will have one like it in my area. The CD cover is a blessing since I plan on replacing the radio head unit with a DVD player and won't be subject to wandering eyes wherever I park it. The car drives nice, with plenty of speed to pass people and looks a lot more expensive than it is. The trunk space isn't the best, but I'm only using it for small items like groceries.

We bought the tC for our 16 yr old son. He loves it! We bought it with ground affects/18 inch Perrilli tires/upgraded sound-subwoofer-iPod dock/interior lights/Billet grille/spoiler on back and more. It is so much fun to drive and it looks great. Sure he wishes it had a big engine, but for a 16 year old new driver this is as much power as we wanted him to have. My son is also tall and this is one of the few cars that had plenty of head/leg room for him.

The worst thing about my Scion tC was having to wait four weeks to get it! I absolutely love this car. It's sleek, sporty, and sexy, yet comfortable, roomy, and reliable. I'm so pleased with the quality of car I received for the small price I paid - and can't get over how LOADED it comes in the base model. It drives smoothly and accelerates nicely, hugs curves, and catches the eye of so many other drivers (I see you looking!). It's an absolute gem.

My Scion tC has about 2,000 miles now and a review was in order since I read a lot before buying my car. I get 26 mpg in combined city / highway driving, which is a lot better then my Chevrolet Suburban got. I am 6' 300 lbs. and I am comfortable in the car. I enjoy driving it, although the head-room is a problem. I have not had a problem with blind spots that others talk about, but that might be because I am so awhere of them from other reviews. I test drove a lot of other cars, including Saturns, the Mitsubishi Eclipse, Honda Accord, VWs, Chevrolet Cobalt, Toyota Matrix, Chevrolet HHR and the tC won out. I even took one car to another dealership and compared side by side. I did have to wait four weeks for my car but I got the color I wanted.

The 2006 Scion tC is decked out with all the standard options that I would want. I only added a few things, and it turns heads like nobody's business. The manual transmission has more than enough power for this 23 year old male. I am very hard on cars, and this one has passed every test I have thrown at it so far. The only downside is that on trips you can really only have one or two people with you who have packed lightly.

First of all good luck finding one. Had to drive 300 miles to get a 5-speed Scion tC with side curtain airbags and the iPod radio. I also added a few more options. Before I gought, I tested the Acura RSX, VW Jetta, Mazda 3, and the Scion tC. What a great experience. Buying it was the best experience. the no haggle pricing and the dealership were great. This car is great. It has lots of power, tight handling, an excellent quality, all for less money than anything else I was looking at. It is surprisingly roomy inside. The driver's seat is comfortable but it took a while for me to find the right position. The iPod integration option is great, don't buy one without it. This car's excellent fuel mileage is a blessing. I am currently getting 29 mpg city and highway. My kids are gone and I'm having blast in this car.

The transmission in my Scion tC is smooth. It has a lot of horsepower (160) for a cheap price. I think it's the best buy I have ever made. There are also so many modifications that you can do to this car. They are pretty cheap, too. The engine quality for this inexpensive a car is amazing. I lvoe the 2.4L VVT-i DOHC. I also like that it's a 5-speed and not a 6-speed transmission. I mean I can use the gears longer before I need to shift, which is better for racing. The fuel economy is pretty damn good, too.

I got my 2006 Scion tC in August 2005 and from the moment I got it until now, I have loved it. This car has a little bit of everything. I love how it has a touch of sport utility in it. There are a ton of options that you can chose for the car. If they were to come up with an updated version in a few years, I would definitely trade it in and keep my car a for a new Scion tC. This car has a very nice interior and you would think that because it is a two-door vehicle, the passengers in the back would be cramped. But I actually have people WANT to sit in the back, because the seats recline and are very comfortable. The trunk space looks very limited, it's a hatchback, but it has the perfect amount of space.

It's more like 24/31, which is not bad for a 2.4 liter! The fit and finish are great for any car in this segment. Honda is all I have ever owned and now I'm a Toyota believer! I had looked at others like Mazdas and Hondas which were in the same price range, but in order to get features like alloy wheels, and a sunroof, a nice stereo, the price then shot up. I did something gutsy; I never test drove it and asked for it anyway. Now that i have it, I love it. I love the way it drives. It's got great pick up or for a 4 banger. I've been thorougly impressed with my tC so far. With its peppy engine, great build quality, sweet standard rims, long list of stock features, and more room at every seat (including all 3 backseats) than a 4-door Honda Civic or Volkswagen Jetta, the tC's been great. I love the sport seats that standard, and the ability to tune this thing out like crazy. There's decent trunk room for a coupe, and the car looks amazing in black when it's clean and the rims are shined up. Can't even say how many great comments I've gotten on it, and how many people asking what kind of car it is, and then going on to say how cool it is, especially for under 18 grand. A 5 star car at a bargain price.

The tC has adequate power but it won't overwhealm you. The seats are very comfortable bu a little wide. The interior looks beautiful with high quality materials that look like they belong on a car that costs a lot more. I have had at least 3 or 4 people come up to me and ask me about it and if I like the car. It rides pretty stiff on large wheels and a taught suspension so if a cushy ride is what you are looking for, this isn't it. In conclusion, the tC is a great car and you just can't find a better car out there for less money.

I got my 2006 Scion tC about 3 months ago and couldn't be happier. I traded in a 2000 Mercury Mystique, called the poor man's BMW. There's nothing out there in the entry level compact car. I researched the Mazda 3, Ford Focus, Nissan Sentra, and Honda Civic (no Korean cars, though), and the best bang for my buck was the tC. Did you know they're monospec? It means there is only one base model, but... The base model comes with power windows both with one touch activation, panorama roof and moonroof, mp3 player, 160hp and 163 lb/ft torque, and best of all... Toyota reliability! Only complaint is the aft panel in the roof sometimes rattles on bad roads, but what do you expect from a $17,000 car?

When I bought the TC I was even more impressed, their is no car out on the market that you can buy that even comes close to the bang for the buck that you get with the TC. The interior is neat and well designed and the outside is sporty enough to turn heads on the road. I have no complaints about the car and would recommend it to anybody looking for for a coupe.

I got my car in June, and I absolutely love it! I got it for a great price, and it is so much fun to drive. Theres so many aftermarket parts too, so it's extremely easy to customize your car to make it solely yours. I got hit pretty badly toward the end of August in my car, and I wasn't hurt at all, which was pretty surprising. And much to my surprise, the car wasn't too expensive to fix either. Overall, I don't feel like I could have made a better choice buying this car.

I replaced my 96 Ford Probe GT with a lowered (TRD springs) dark blue, 5- speed Scion tC. Its perfect, quiet, gets great mpg, and looks the part. Everyone that has looked at it thinks I made a great purchase and they are all right on the money. My first 331 miles netted 28.4 mpg. It should get better with a good break-in to! I also had heated seats and floor mats added but nothing else. I suggest you look at it if your in this market because you get Toyota build quality and some great looks to boot. Also with it being a hatchback you can't believe how much stuff you can get in one to. Buy one they rock!

Great fit and finish with nice exterior details. We get stopped all of the time with questions about the car. Looks great in silver! The tC has a very good ride/handling balance. It is a firm ride, but not bone jarring. Great performance for a 4cylinder automatic. Fun to drive and I would recommend to anyone.

This is my first car, and I love it like a child. We can't expect a lot with a price tag of $17,000, but we get a lot. The exterior design is beautiful, with a mix of the BMW 5-Series and a Volvo. I think Toyota hit the jackpot with this one. I am not the only one who is in love with the car, anyone who drives or rides in the tC thinks about auto theft, and in fact I have had someone try to steal the car... It was a bad day. The sound system is amazing, interior is beautiful, with very comfortable seats, and great gas mileage, I would deffinently advise you to consider buying this beauty.

I have read all the reviews about this being a great car for teenagers, but I'm in my late 40s, and I love it, too! Roomy, dependable, FUN to drive (we old-timers like to have fun rides, too, you know!). Great interior design, especially the radio cover and SSP choices for audio. Lots of room in back for teenage kids + gear, and very comfortable for them with the reclining rear seats. Plenty of storage space, especially with the rear seats folded, and more than any other vehicle I've ever owned with the front passenger seat folded. I went looking for a cheap, high gas mileage, family car, and feel like I have a luxury car!

This car is my first new car purchase, after graduating college I was looking for a stylish looking car that would be reliable as well. The scion tC is that car. Pros: Great looking, nice stereo, quick for a 4-cyl., interior design is stylish, back seats a roomy and all seats are comfortable and this car defenitly looks more exensive than it is (will get expensive when you add options like I did) and you can customize it. Cons: loud engine, rims scratch real easy, small trunk (but who really cares about trunk space). Overall I give this car a B and it is the perfect choice for a first car.

The paint began chipping on the car the first month I bought it (July of 2004). I have since gone to arbitration and spoken with many people about the ordeal and found the issue is widespread. The paint chips and peels extremely easily- unlike any other car I have had and I've had 4 other new cars. It is ridiculous. So ridiculous in fact, that Scion decided to inconspiculously change the Silver and Navy Blue colors to nearly identical colors (but different paint) for the '06 lineup. Way to go Scion- but you've still got one big problem, you won't have a ton of repeat buyers and brand loyalty to Toyota and Lexus when your cars have to get new paint jobs every year!

If you are anything like me, I could not afford a $30,000 vehicle. I test drove everything even cars that I could not afford for about a year stubornly picky about the car I wanted....until i drove the Scion tC. In a nut shell it has looks, reliability, handling, speed, a great stereo, best wheel package in its class, an engine that will last, fuel eficient without looking like a space ship, an endless amount of accesories and mod capabilities, safe, but most of all sexy. All this for only $17,000 to $20,000!! If this car is marketed to young buyers than older buyers are missing out on a great investment.

I love my scion tC. Ever since I bought I can not go anywhere with out getting questioned about it. It is fun to drive, fast and has a really awsome sporty look. It was the car that i was looking for but thought that i could not afford. Starting at $16,000 it is by far the only car on the road that will give you all of the options that you would want with a hot spoiler, subwoofer, rims and just about any feature to choose from. Clearly priced toward the bank account of a college student or young professional.

I have only had it for 100 miles, but I am already in love with it. The handling, the power, the long list of standard features. This car feels like $30m000, not the $17.500 I paid. The only option that we have is the sidecurtain airbags. We almost wrecked it with only 70 miles on the odometer! Some jerk tried to dart through three lanes of heavy traffic, then stopped. This was my first experience with 4 wheel ABS disc brakes. We managed to stop just inches from this fools door. The tC is a major bargain. It has lots of safety features. It is 100% Toyota with a Camry engine. I was looking for basic, reliable transportation, I ended up with all of that in cool little rocket!

I bought this car for my daughter based on Toyota reliability and the price. I special ordered it to get the color and head air bag package. It turned out to be a great call because my daughter walked and passenger walked away from a 70 mph double roll over accident. The car was totaled but I am going to replace it with an identical model. This is a very safe car! The only issue I found during this accident was both sunroofs shattered in a million small pieces of glass. Nobody got even scratched because the head airbags deployed evidently shielding the passengers from the glass

best bang for the buck bar none! The standard options for this car are above ecceptional for a mear 17k, this car is equiped with features more like a 23k sedan. interior room is fantasic with enough room to fit 4 6' guys no problem. The dash is nicely appointed with satin silver finishes and a cool flip up door that covers the pioneer stereo. Performance is fantastic! keep in mind it is not a v8, but the 4 banger has enough guts to put a smile on your face. The handling is awesome with a little under steer when pushed but much less than most FWD's. steering and brakes are very positive with a secure feeling for the street. TRD sway bars and springs would be a good option for racing.

I purchased this vehicle several months ago and so far I am satisfied with it. I love the design of the car, but the driver seat sits strange next to the window and it seems you have to sit a ways back or it seemes as if in the windshield. It is very sporty and seats are not very comfy at all. It has pioneer stereo in it and I replaced it because even though Pioneer it was the cheapest and sounded horrible. The gas mileage seems really high for a small 4cyl car. I get less than it says I should. The 2 sunroofs are neat and only one opens and it is very loud when open. The ac is also very loud when on. The car is cute and it great for the money and is dependable because it is practically Toy.

I have enjoyed driving this vehicle since the first test drive. It has all the capability's of sports car, and the looks of an expensive luxury coupe. People do not believe the price I paid. Took it on its first road trip (a 1600 mile round trip). Having cruise control on a 5sp was nice. From full (F) to very close to empty (E), i was over 410 miles before i filled up. The added performance parts made by toyota and put on by toyota does not affect the warranty, which makes the little extra power and performance handling awesome. Oh yeah, how could i forget the reclining back seat. unbelievable.

Contrary to the information I entered, I own a 2005 Scion TC that I purchased in November of '04 (for some reason, I was not able to enter this info). I've owned the car for a little over six months now and I have to say that I've been thrilled with my purchase. For one, the tC is an exceptional value. I paid just under $18,000 for a Silver- Streak, automatic transmission model with the optional airbag package (well worth the $600 and change for the safety...not to mention peace of mind). Every time I get in the car, I'm impressed with it's overall build quality, smooth operation, German-esque ride, and impressive array of standard features. I test drove a tC and Civic...EASY decision.

Forget "great car for the money," this is a great car period! It's has great acceleration, handles decently, shifts like a hot knife through warm butter, gets good fuel milage, tons of standard features, booming system, etc. Considering that you walk out the door (tax, licence, etc. included) for under 18K this car cannot be beat! I test drove a Mazda 3, Ford Focus, Acura RSX, and Hyundai Tiberon (all more expensive with the features I wanted) and although they are all great car and were fun to drive, I couldn't ignore the value of the tC vs. the competition.
